Great victory for Italy. They so deserve to qualify now.

Not yet. They only deserve to qualify if they beat the CONCACAF 3rd-placed team.

With all the tough games UEFA teams have had to play, Italy deserve something better than another game vs a Concacaf 3rd place loser.

In this case it should be a walk in the park for Italy, shouldn't it?

I should say in south america with a due respect let only Brazil go to the WC
or do we want to see another Germany/USA-Argentina 11-0?????

Hopefully Italy can rep Europe well. On a athletic/technical level Italy should come through either Costa Rica or Mexico, but football can always spring a surprise when you least exspect it.

If only Brazil ever qualifies for the WC then there is little motivation to promote women's football in the other SA countries.

Argentina are much imrpoved and actually beat Brazil 2-0 a few years ago to win the South American championship.

That was BEFORE the 11-0 loss to Germany.

They're playing the 3rd place winner (not the loser). Mexico will probably be this team, and they are not that bad - probably a Top 20 team. Italy should still win though.

I'd expect South America will get 3 places in 2015 - this should open up competition behind Argentina, and we will see the other South American teams improve by getting World Cup Finals exposure... Teams like Colombia and Chile are already closing the gap on Argentina..

I think the "loser" was pejorative (not descriptive)

    Mexico actually beats USA 2-1.

Not so good, since Italy will now have to play and beat USA (assuming they defeat Costa Rica) in order to qualify. Theorically USA will be the most difficult adversary by far, but since Mexico defeated them, they proved their capacity, and USA is not really unbeatable.
