The College Cup Stanford, 1-0 over Duke. Only seven shots on goal the entire game (5-2 Stanford). http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...mens.championship.ap/index.html?sct=sc_t2_a16 Friday against Florida State, Stanford amassed a total of three shots on goal. All three went in, 3-0.
Could Hogan come back to Buff Nation? I heard its not all it cracked up to be at the beach? Hands are locked into the current players. He is the players 1st choice at CU? Maybe an option?
Hempen should go back to the ACC and head up the Pitt program. Pitt would be crazy not to go after him. Or Northwestern.
The Hire Rumors abound. They've been floating around the "Hot Seat" thread. Perhaps we will know tomorrow? Sounds like maybe Danny Sanchez? If so, bummer for Wyoming, good for CU.
Re: The Hire This is a great hire IMHO. But it's going to take time for anyone to help this program compete at the top of the PAC 12. This team's issues will take time to sort out, and one coach wasn't the whole problem here. FWIW CU ran a very organized search and got a great coach. Good for them!
Sanchez it is From CU's official site: http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205349595&DB_OEM_ID=600
Re: Sanchez it is Outstanding. This is one happy fan. He was my first choice, which has absolutely nothing to do with anything, especially his selection. I saw Wyoming twice this past season, several weeks apart, and the improvement was stunning. They looked ... let's say underwhelming in defeating us 1-0. They looked awesome in losing to San Diego State 1-0. Which proves, if nothing else, that soccer is weird. But if he can bring improvement like that here, this herd of large prairie animals will soon be a thundering herd. Can't wait. It is rumored that others turned down the position. If so, to them I convey my gratitude.
I have to say, I'm very impressed with his CV. This may be one of those cases where the best person wasn't the most obvious, at least from an AD's point of view. Good luck. I hope to see your ladies again either in 2012 or 2013. It will be interesting to see the change in play.
CU Soccer Inspires Basketball Win Men's basketball defeated Cal State Bakersfield 70-64 at the Events Center this evening. Well into the first half, the Roadrunners led 20-9 and 22-11. With 7+ minutes left in the half a media time-out was called, and on the large screen on the scoreboards, the FanCam found Amy Barczuk and Annie Stuller. This obviously motivated the team, because shortly thereafter the Buffs led 23-22, a 12-0 run in a game won by six.
Spring Soccer Apparently there is intelligent life at the NCAA. According to Coach Sanchez, the attempt to eliminate spring soccer (and volleyball and etc) was not successful. I am relieved. August is very far away. March is closer.
Sanchez Articles Here are a couple of pieces on the hire of Sanchez: http://www.buffzone.com/soccer/ci_19578735 http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205349595&DB_OEM_ID=600
Assistant coaches The Wyoming website lists the head coach and both assistants as TBA. Our website shows no assistant coaches. Here's the Wyoming take on Danny Sanchez leaving: http://www.wyomingathletics.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/122111aaa.html
Re: Assistant coaches CU has announced CU's two assistants and they are both coming to Boulder from Laramie. Jason Green and Don Trentham http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=3937&SPID=259&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205351338&DB_OEM_ID=600
Re: Assistant coaches Trentham is a great coach in his own right after having success at MSU-Billings. Sanchez knows what he's doing and will have CU up and running quickly. Two more coaches who cut their teeth in the D2 ranks...
Re: Assistant coaches Calling out to Unkiemark or Derbarkasmann....did either of you see (or here anything about) CU women's first spring soccer game vs. MetroState this past Saturday? Please relay if so...thanks.
