This article says that England match is off too. Freeing up police from that event to handle riots.

Spurs/Everton game at WHL postponed due to riots/threat of rioting/inability to protect fans/whatever you want to call it. All other EPL games to go one as scheduled.

This is a bummer. I had an awesome Saturday of soccer all planned out.

rioters looted the tottenham trophy cabinet, left empty handed....sorry that one just came to me.

(only joking as I know they have won stuff, most recently the Barclays Asia Trophy in 2009)

Ian Darke just tweeted that ESPN2 will now be broadcasting the Fulham-Aston Villa match live at 10am. (match had previously been scheduled for 2:30 tape delay on FSC)

What, if any, channels in the US show the Championship games now? Does 4th Street get it?

Basically anything listed on this site they can show.

Only one I see for this weekend:
Sat, Aug 13 12:00pm Birmingham City v Coventry City (SDD) FSC+

4th Street will also have Wolfsburg v Bayern Munich on which kicks at 9:30 on GolTV Saturday.

Should be interesting. Wolfsburg looks really good vs Koeln while Bayern is p*ssed after losing for only the second time in 43 years to Gladbach in Munich.

Hope you were not looking foward too much to the start of La Liga...

La Liga Start Postponed As Players Announce Strike

Taking the first two weeks off in protest to players at certain, financially dodgy clubs not getting paid. Looking to get guarantees on full payment and/or certain rights to nullify contracts after a certain period on not receiving wages.

I am seeing reports that Emmanuel Adebayor has been signed by Spurs on a season long loan.

Also that Robbie Keane is on the brink of a move to Leicester City (I'll wait on Placid's confirmation of that).

Got any links for that? I know it's been speculated for a while, but nothing's really happened so far.

Some links but I can't vouch for how credible they are. However, I haven't seen any, until today, that said it was done, only speculating that it could happen. These, however, say it is in the can.

Wow... is EPL's ego getting too big?

English Football Leagues Still Meeting With Media

So we have rioting in London, strike in Spain and news access wars in England. Is this one of the crazier starts to the European seasons in a while?

The mighty cherries march their way up the table. Comfortable 2-0 home win against the Owls. We fear no one.

I think I just heard that this is the first tim ein premier league history where there were no home wins. Not sure if that is opening day only, or any full program days.

A blight on the game. Plus, EPL officials looking like they're auditioning for MLS.

Premier league referees can make about $100K per year, they need to be more accountable.
