Of course, if this was New York the ace would be lifted in the 8th inning, for a Japanese import and the team would lose the game.

    But Charlie isn't Jerry.

    And Roy isn't Johan.

Charlie and Roy understand finishing what you start.

I did appreciate the congrats. But, there is a level of decorum here that needs to be upheld.

Besides, I was sorta hoping my post would lead to an otter sighting where he goes into a profanity laden tirade. I miss my little buddy.

Can't agree. Perfect games are greater than all rivalries. If you are a fan of baseball then you are in awe of what Holliday did. What clothes he was wearing when he did it is inconsequential.

Now if it was just a no hitter it would be a different story.

Don't get me wrong, I'd offer congrats to you guys as well. I mean, I think Dallas Braden is an insufferable douche and I still was in awe and thrilled to have watched that a few weks back. And I said, I appreciated the congrats.

But I have a reputation to uphold around these parts...

True, no hitters happen and they're cool but perfectos are amazing and have only happened 20 times in over 100 years of Major League Baseball.

If someone did it against the Phils I would stand up, applaud and appreciate how amazing that pitcher had to be for 27 outs to accomplish that.

My soiree into NYC on Friday gave me two beauts:

    1) ShakeShake is shit and is just a glorified MickeyD's. If it wasn't in the middle of a Manhattan park people would never eat there.

    2) Listening to FAN on the way up and hearing Joe Benigno actually say something along the lines of, "The Mets should go and get Cliff Lee right now. Slot him into their rotation as the #3 behind their dual aces of Santana and Pelfrey."

He was not joking, I kid of you not. Then they talked about the possibilities of getting Zach Duke from the Pirates and I had to pull over and let me wife continue the drive up to Hoboken.

Finally Benny Tudino's makes an awesome slice of pizza. It's been too long since I went there daily for a fix. Haven't been back to Hoboken since moving 4 years ago.

you would think that with the Mets ahead in the standings that they would be gloating.

    But no.

Is it that they have been ahead in the standings before in July and blown in spectacularly?

Or is it that their ace is a ********in rapist?

Remember when the Mets were above us and you guys were all excited for the season to unfold? Well it's unfolded and as August is upon us you're 4 back of the Phils and 6.5 back in the division. Mediocrity suits you so well.

Have fun deciding who to blame another wasted season on.

haha... I knew you would bump this thread as soon as the sun was shining on your ass again. This is the same guy who bragged about being 3-4 games ahead of the Mets after the first week of the season. Goes all quiet for 3 months and comes back here now only once they've re-established that 3-4 game lead.

You absolutely need to love this.

    Some sample lyrics...

"We lose alot, it's all good."

"We're gonna try to win, we'll see what happens.."

"Ice Cream in the helmets, y'all"

and my personal favorite..."World Series champs 2087"

He actually says 2087. He's already given up on the next 75 years or so. Phenomenal.

I mock this, in part. But honestly, I love it. I've probably watched this thing like a dozen times.

    Pure gold.

Given the Phillies' history, that's right around the time that you can expect to win your 3rd world series crown.

His rap verse is only 23 seconds long. I think even I could come up with that. The WS 2087 champs part is fantastic. Big ups to hangthadj for the find!

Baseball season was more fun when the Mets fans DIDNT expect the team to be terrible at the end of the year. Its just not the same without their distraught, confused faces trying to figure out how they blew a ___ game lead to a team that they're "so much better than."

    Guys, guys...

You are supposed to hit the baseball. Not your Father-in-Law.

Three cheers for K-Rod. How I would love to see him dressed in orange picking up trash on the side of the highway. What a classless prick.

Big Dick get's passed around doesn't he? I mean last Sunday Philly loved Big Dick and this time, NY loves Big Dick. Sounds like a bit of a whore to me.

How many shutouts is this? 10? Honestly it's ridiculous, how can a team be shut out by an inferior team so often on one season.

Thank God for Cole Hamels breaking up the no hitter and ensuring that Metropolitan tradition stands just below the Teal and Black of the Marlins.
