thanks for the history lesson and everything guys, but are we not missing the point a bit here? Liverpool's kop isn't famous because it's a kop - it's famous because of who sits in it!! We've got what we've got. It's our supporters section and we can call it whatever we want. We don't have to copy some SA/Eng naming system. Dill was saying River End - I was saying use the geographical place name Delaware River, Del-End or Ware-End or something like that. I only mentioned Liverpool's Kop-End as an example. The one that I sit in at the moment is the Jungle Bhoys singing section, formerly the jungle - do you want to give us a history lesson on that as well..? (by the way, mon' the mogga! 0-2) I don't really give a shit if hundreds of teams have a kop or not - the best example and most intimidating 'crazy' supporters section that I've ever seen in person was the end stand at the Communale in Florence. http://it.violachannel.tv/piantina.html section N ...And it wasn't even that big - it wasn't up against a hill - only the upper half of it was steep - but the fans were fckin nuts. Apparently that's what the jungle used to be like (before the police threw u out for singing too loud or not sittin down.) Also remember that if the stadium is expanded, the SoB section is one of the areas which can easily be extended - thereby placing a steeper upper section behind the existing one - don't know whether they would put a roof on that or not. so if I go to all the bother of travelling to visit the Chester stadium I'de better not find a bunch of geeks sitting in the 'wecan'tagreewhattocallit-end' arguing over what the geometry of a kop is.
I'm sorry if I offended you. My post wasn't in response to anything you wrote. I was responding to sara, who asked: So, I wasn't missing the point. I agree with you on the need for a strong supporters section. My post was right on point for sara's question. She was asking for a history lesson.
Yeah, sorry dude but he's right. I did ask for the history lesson. I only understand about half of what is said regarding the draft, the stadium, the nuances of the MLS, etc. I'm a super-noob.
Here is the original post by him and his assertion that calling it the Delaware End would be "unique" like the Kop End. Then we introduced that the Kop wasn't unique, then someone asked for a history lesson, and at the end of the day we are back to But not before getting called geeks because we know that the Kop End isn't "specific" and then being able to back it up.
