I'm not saying we should stop making new chants. I'm saying that we can't just create new ones that are complicated and have more than a few words in them (as most of the ones posted in this thread have been) as it's not going to catch on.

Basically what seems to end up happening in these threads each year is we come up with plenty of ideas in this thread, but in the end maybe only 1-2 actually make it into full use in the section.

I'd love to do the "There's only one Josh Wolff" chant. I like the tune, and it's one that can go on and on. It's the chant equivalent of an innings-eating middle reliever.

Part of the reason chants get discussed but never pan out is sometimes just bad timing. Honestly, only a relatively few people in the Cauldron read Big Soccer and even know about these new chants/songs. It means that at least a few of those few have to be really committed to the chant. They have to talk about it at the tailgate, remind people of the words, and get people ready to do it when the time comes. I noticed that almost never happened last year until near the end of the season. Even just talking about it at the tailgate would probably make all the difference. JMHO

This does excuse you from being an a**hole to the group of people that are trying to make a "real atmosphere."
then stop mocking us with that f*** off chant suggestion and the like.

And those are the ones worth keeping for the most part. If a chant sucks, don't stress too much about it. It won't catch on. It doesn't make the process meaningless. We're going to have to throw a lot of stuff against the wall to see what sticks.

As for Zusi having the song about him, I agree, he needs to earn it. I was just commenting on the sound of the lyrics and what seemed most natural.

LOL On which thing? There are two many things to list right now. He is turning into a politician saying what the people want to hear only to have his own M.O. once he gets voted into office.

...except we were in the middle of saying how we didn't approve of the f canada chant. you were trying to be funny, you weren't, and this whole little act is getting a little old.

totally unrelated question: how do you put someone on your ignore list? I can't seem to find it. I don't have to be a paying member to do that, do I?

Not such an unrelated question, eh? On the User Control Panel, via the My Bigsoccer tab - you'll see "Edit Ignore List" and you can add anyone.

M.Gooner well said....and I think it is well worth a shot trying to get new chants started on here, then spreading them out to the real game...I Love You Davy is one that we created on here, and will be a regular in no time flat...thinking of new chants that aren't the same old same is a fun part of being a ''supporter'' instead of a casual fan, and I enjoy the process and trying to get them started.

-I was trying to be funny by suggesting that chant?? I was actually serious. I just thought it was cool when i heard it. I guess american soccer is not about that. Totally fine.

We all know it's a no go with the league and front office, and probably not worth discussing. It's pretty much only organized f bombs they have a problem with. Calling the goalkeeper shit is different. Yelling f**k when Amado Guevara scores on us is different.

Maybe we can quit with all the bullshit and just agree on a few simple points.

    1. Come up with whatever chant you want, no matter what kinds of words are in it. Sing it in the parking lot with your friends, even use it with the visiting fans you see prior to the game if you want, or in the concourses. I don't care. As long as you're not taking it past words or getting in someone's face, a song never hurt anyone. If security or someone is on you about it, well, you've got a choice at that point.

    2. During the game, the Cauldron's sole purpose is to support the team because we want them to win. The best way for us to help that happen is to get as many people as we can to be as loud and united as possible in support of the team. That means not being douchebags and trying to work together.

    3. We don't throw crap at players. I don't know if MLS penalizes teams w/point deductions etc but if someone in the Cauldron was ever responsible for something like that, the players' connection w/the Cauldron would probably be dead. The protection you'd need from the rest of the Cauldron would be secondary. Throwing streamers at the opposing keeper when he's already trying to waste time is just plain stupid.

Couldn't agree more on both of these points. Thank you for posting.

Wouldn't it be easier, and less controversial for some of the fans, if we did: "1-nil, To the Wizards" instead of KC Wiz?

Outside of that, there shouldn't be much complaint about today's Cauldron. Wish I could've been there.

The mini Cauldron was great today all around. Greg Cotton stopped to tell me so at the end of the game. One song I forgot was Come on KC. I didn't remember until I heard Come on Eileen over the speakers at the end of the game. We did that really well in Columbus last year for the playoffs.

As I was telling Jeff, I think with a smaller Cauldron it's easier to learn the new chants. I think today's game might actually help the Cauldron for future games (chant-wise).

Counting before Cannon's goal kicks was loud and clear, and came over very well. You guys were all together and loud the entire game, major props.

And the Nick Garcia chant was awesome. :D

Excellent. I think it made him hesitate on one kick, and rush another.

I really like the counting, Counting up excellent, Counting down not so hot. We just have to get everyone on the same page so that we don't have half yelling and half counting. But I am pretty sure that we made him fumble, very nice.

I was really bored at work today, what do you all think of these:

tune of Paradise City - GNR--
Take me home to Kansas City
Where the team wears blue and the goals are pretty (plenty?)
Oh won't you please take me home!

to the tune of the chorus from Viva la Vida--

Our MLS cup is always gleaming
the crowd in the cauldron is always singing

The team in blue controls the field
the hand of justice we'll proudly wield

whether warm sun or wind and rain,
I know that the Wizards will win the game.

    and for all we're worth
    Kansas City rules the world

when I first read the chant I didn't fancy it much..but after u read it two or three times it becomes pretty damn decent (talking about the GNR chant)..I could hear the whole Cauldron screaming ''O won't you please take me home"!!! Would sound amazing at away games as well...

To the tune of "Feed the Children"
    Claudia, Looopeeezzz
He is ours and we don't share
    Cllaauddiiaa Looopppeezz
    He will win us silverware

lol I think it will work.

I can dig it! The Cauldron is louder than the Entire K. Fact. Maybe they handed out Xanex and ditchweed to the first 10,000 fans? the PA guy should come on and announce naptime is OVER. So,so quiet at the K.........
    shhhhhhhh. Royals fans are sleepy.
