Once again...NYRB, DC, New England, RSL, all play in non-soccer stadiums and I'd say at least 3 or the 4 are on TV more than us..

My point again, if they can be on TV as much as they are, so should we.

They also all play(ed) in stadiums that can at least cater to soccer successfully. AKA they play(ed) in football stadiums, or in DC's case, a stadium that used to be a football stadium. CAB is not designed that way. With that fact, they look more professional in their layout of broadcasts than CAB does.

I couldn't disagree more...I think it looks awful watching any of their games and seeing 8-12,000 fans spread out over 40-60,000 seats, and hardly any more ''professional'' than us.

This isn't an attendance argument. Would you rather see at least a stadium in the background or would you rather see a f'ing Target? Neither looks good, but at least looking like they're in a professional stadium is much better than seeing a retail store across the street on camera.

When you watch games in Europe, what can you see 3/4 of the time? Nieghborhoods and stores..Stamford Bridge is in the middle of a shopping district, same with Celtic Park, it doesn't matter if you see a ''Target'' or anything else in the background, I don't think that takes away from or adds to a sense of ''professionalism''...I still think we look more professional and I still feel we should be on TV as much as those east coast teams who still play with football stripes on their fields,,which hardly looks professional.

You can see stores and neighborhoods when watching games on TV at Stamford Bridge? Funny I seem to recall the Bridge being fully enclosed when I went there.

As I said, neither looks professional, but actually seeing the stores across the street to me is not a major league, that screams minor league. Put that on top of the fact that CAB was not built with a sport like soccer or football in mind makes the entire set up for broadcasts minor league.

Go inside the Bridge and see what you see when you look out? This convo is going no where, I'm out.

Again, it's what you see ON TV! You don't see those things ON TV, especially from the midfield camera that shows most of the game. I have trouble watching our home games on TV because of how bad it looks, angle wise and the background.

you know, I do understand what your saying, I really do...I just think were equally do as many games as those teams with football stadiums...that is all.

Our team might, but our stadium certainly doesn't.

I can't tell you how hard it is to sell a team playing in a minor minor league baseball stadium to people around here. I fully understand our situation and don't want to come off as ungrateful for all OnGoal has done, but it doesn't make it look any better. Once I get them to the game they forget about all of that, but it just looks ridiculous when you watch our home games on tv. I'm not sure if you've ever had that 'pleasure' since it sounds like you're at most games, but when I have to catch games it just looks strange.

BTW, I'd rather see spread out fans in a stadium than empty space behind the benches, so quite frankly I'm thankful that ESPN2 is willing to put any home game of ours on.

Could a MOD be so kind as to move this long string of off-topic debate someplace else....to leave this thread open for Banners, flags, and chants discussion?

Thank you in advance for your swift action to resolve this matter.:D

the other thing that people need to remember is we are a small market team. because of that it is a hard sell to get ESPN or FSC to broadcast one of our home games. the appeal to the rest of the country is we are in a wheat field (aka go back to wichita sign from last game). the reason all the other games that you mention are on tv is because they are in major market, in turn more ad revenue for these channels.

I think I had something something along the lines of ''the big east coast teams''..I understand the marketing aspect of it..I was just saying that their stadiums weren't any more suited than ours, and I still stand by that, even though I respect everyone's opinion to disagree.

before we get back on point, for me it's not that we only get one home game, but one game period. The idea that our stadium isn't the most "photogenic" in the league is a good point, but we also play away games.

so yes let's get back to the signs and banners please.

They hardly ever showed our games when we were at Arrowhead and they also don't really show any of our away games.

A playlist/script would be really good. Do not forget that there will be all the new scarves in the hands of the season ticket holders.

I have no idea how or what to do, but if there is a way to coordinate the mosaic that Eric is working on in the other thread and alternate that with all the scarves up around the stadium, it would be cool.

We could do a scarf thing to start up the 2nd half of the game, right before kick off...It will be a very visual evening for the Wizards, and hopefully will spark off many more very visual nights.

With all these great sign ideas, are any of you, you know, actually making them? It would take 20 minutes with marker and posterboard and if it's funny and clean, it will probably make ESPN in our small stadium. I'm going to try to do a two pole or two before the game tomorrow, but it'd be nice to see some one-offs brought besides mine.

It wasn't an issue w/35 degree weather, but tomorrow should be pretty full. Is there going to be a drum zone in place so we can point people to the right area?
