I'd be screaming my head off at Bradley for being completely ineffectual, but then I'd remember that he's my son. Also, why is Ralston out there getting garbage time? Why is he even on this team? He's the second oldest player on the 23 man roster, and it's not like he's a fading star - he didn't even get named to the '06 WC team.
I hope Bob Bradley doesn't start to be called some type of names like that of Steve Mclaren. He is making some serious blunders. Oh well, we are in the semis. Bring on Canada...hopefully a good game that the USA will come out on top. Not so much of a rivalry with Canada. One, because they are Canada, and two because they are no good. I can't hate Canada, it's where I go for a weekend of fun....ahhh Canada and it's 18 year old drinking age.
Seems you dislike Cheatin' Bob as much as I do. His kid sucks and we played with two holding midfielders. It's a mystery to me why he doesn't play with two real strikers.
Or sometimes with zero strikers (I don't think he realizes Donovan and Dempsey aren't center forwards).
I was really hoping for Jurgen Klinnsman (sp) to be the new manager. Oh well... If BB screws up in the next year or so in one of the tournaments then hopefully US scoocer will see the error in their ways--or maybe BB will turn out to be a genius...
After getting a chance to re-watch the Panama-USA quarterfinal I just have two things really to say. Performance was a little disappointing, but maybe I expect a little too much from a team with a new coach and new players. Second, that second goal was pure class. The service from Beasly and the finish from Boca just oozed class................and poor defending by Panama .
So Mexico scores ONE for a win against 8 men of Costa Rica. I'm sure they'll take it but it has to be embarrassing
THIS is the lineup that Bradley the genius dreamed up for tonight's semifinal: ------------Keller------------ Hejduk-Onyewu-Boca-Bornstein Donovan-Mastro-Bradley-Beasley -----Dempsey-Johnson----------- In case you're wondering, that's only two changes from the Canada match (Keller for Howard and Johnson for Ching). Seriously, what the ********.
Wow...shocking really. In defense we have a guy who is a little over the hill, a guy who can't keep his head, a solid veteran, and a rookie. In midfield we have Donovan who has had a decent tourney. Mastro, who I like, but is getting slower. Bradley, ******** him. And Beasley, who I hope makes an impact tonight. I am guessing up top that Demspey will slot in behind Johnson. Come on EJ lets see some of that magic. Keys to the Game: Midfield needs to be solid. Especially Donovan and Beasley. With that central midfield lineup we are weak. Defense is questionable as well. Oh boy I have a feeling this one may be too close for comfort. Come on USA!!!
I just got home from my rec league game and the first thing I see when I turn on the TV if Hejduk getting a soft yellow that keeps him out of the final. Canada then scores minutes later. Maybe I should turn it off. Ooh. And Dempsey almost restores the two-goal lead.
LB and quentinc, you got your wish. If we make the final, Bradley the Younger will not be in the team.
I thought the official made some questionable calls. Our defense looks horrible, I'm not looking forward to the offensive slaughter awaiting us in the Copa America. At least it was an entertaining last 1/2 hour. Oh yeah what do you think about Donovan's pre-penalty ritual? I guess as long as he scores he can do whatever he wants.
Hejduk and Bradley are the only two I know of. Is the Mexico game on TV? I thought it would be on Univision but my cable TV guide indicates otherwise. EDIT: For anyone who's interested, the Mexico game is on Telefutura (which I don't get).
Okay so it wasn't a great win, but at least Daddy's boy is out for the final....enough of that garbage.
Interesting, tuned in at the half and thought that, that 'soft' yellow was a potential red. He had more elbows than an octopus, that's if an octopus has elbows but it does have eight arms and Hayduk was using all eight of his with intent to hurt. The ref really wasn't that good I agree and Canada wuz robbed of the draw but hell, shit happens. Donovan had the chance to make it 3-1 but not only missed the goal but totally missed the ball........sheesh surely the US can find someone better than that turd. The match itself was a good cup game to watch, it was like an FA cup match between 2 second division teams.....
See, I thought he got the yellow for 'retaliation' after DeRo got up from the challenge and stuck his head into Hejduk. If it was from the challenge, then I'd agree with you that it probably warranted a yellow. But I got the impression it was for his role in the scuffle that followed the challenge.
It could have been that, Hajduk retalialing to derRo's retaliation.... The ref never made any decision that clear though. Except when he was denying appeals.
Why is Hejduk even playing so much? He's old, and he's not even good (especially with as much pushing forward as he does, you think they would want a RB who could cross).
He actually played well in that match -- not just getting the goal, but playing both ways as the ArenaBall fullback.
Yeah, I only saw the first fifteen minutes - that was really more a general statement. Simek and Spector will actually be around for the next WC, so why not play them? Hejduk shouldn't really be getting much playing time with the Nats at all anymore.
I think Hejduk's been our best defender this tournament. And, yea, I'm a Crew fan and label me a homer if you wish. But, really, my statement says more about my lack of faith in the other regulars in defense than whether I believe Hejduk is quality player.
