Culled from a thread on the DC boards... These are not official: 4/23 @ DC 5/14 @ NE 8/27 @ NE 9/17 @ DC
Every other professional sports league somehow manages to come out with a schedule months in advance. MLS though, with just about two months left prior to the season opener ... still hasn't. That's just sad. And hell, once the schedule comes out, we're almost guaranteed that at least two or three games will still be changed.
Chill blood, sista be back on the rebound wit some medici. Frisco (not finished being built), RFK (shared with baseball for the first time) and Home Depot Center (LA and Chivas sharing for the first time) have all added a few wrinkles to the process this year. We may have to wait a few more weeks.
MLS knew the Nationals baseball schedule back in Novemeber. I see no reason why the schedule has not been released yet. It is pathetic.
Maybe it's just me, but with all the great topics we have to bitch about, the schedule being a few weeks late seems way down on the list. Are you trying to plan a family vacation?
I don't think it has anything to do with trying to plan a family vacation ... it's just for a professional league, don't you think they should have their schedule out by now? Baseball has their schedule out officially I believe in November for the next year. Football has theirs done in March/April. Don't really know much about the other sports ... nor care at this point. But I think it's fare to ask where the schedule is. Once again, our home opener is probably about 2.5 months away. I'd like to know where it is, so I can do my best to get more people to come. The more time I have to do that, the easier it is for me. And while I agree that the WCQ, Gold Cup matches etc affect the schedule, it's not like MLS doesn't have a history of changing the schedule.
I don't think the schedule release is more than a week away at this point. Following the normal pattern, you hear the opening days announced, then a bit later you get news articles casually mentioning a couple more dates. Usually that is the harbinger that the full schedule is just around the corner.
They could at least take the 2004 schedule off the website. Looks quite unprofessional. An estimated release date would be nice as well.
No, but at the ALA Midwinter Meeting two weeks ago, I noticed there's an international librarian convention in Oslo the week of my birthday.
basically, wouldn't we all agree that in a number of the stadiums (mainly nfl's i suppose) are multipurpose and that mls is the proverbial 'fat kid' when the teams get divied up? i agree....it's pretty frustrating. however, it's always been sorta' like this. not good for marketing for any of the teams. kraft is probably trying to find a way to squeeze family friend and pat fan, elton john, into the summer schedule for some pat-o-palooza 3rd super bowl celebration......we're probably just waiting to find out which summer month ellie's custom 'flying elvis' glasses will be put into production.
I quite distinctly remember this being a question put to the league at some point, and they said that they had purchased some expensive software package which was supposed to design their schedule for them and ended up having to throw it out because they had too many contingencies that the software was unable to deal with, so the schedule is actually put together manually, which nobody does anymore, because it's such a pain in the ass.
Now 52 days till the season begins, and no schedule. But yeah ... we shouldn't worry about this yet. C'mon MLS ... pretend the M in your name is real.
From what I heard from "sources", one particular MLS team is complicating the schedule situation (and it's not the Revs).
That is true it is a tough schedule for a twelve team league. What a mess in D.C. MLS' attendence will easily be better than baseball's.
I know Chicago has had to change some games that were supposed to be set in stone. RSL may be a problem with their insistence on not playing any Sunday home games. Dallas is also likely a problem because their stadium is behind on its construction schedule. Nonetheless, I ain't shelling out any money, even discounted heavily for tickets until I know when the games are.
Wrong. The Nationals schedule has been out since late last year and since it's out, it's pretty easy to see when the DC home games will be.
