This may be the most significant thing that will happen to the Dynamo this year. :D Laugh now, but you'll see...

And Troutseth, if we get a central american player this season, I will personally cook the best pupusa you'll ever eat, with extra premium curtido.

OK . . does Academy prospect work? I really want a pupusa. Do you do stuffed or plain?

Anyway, this kid looks interesting. I wonder if he would want money that would take a "senior" spot or if we could get him an minimum for a year and use a reserve roster ?

I think this is the type of kids that we need to be looking at; young inexpensive central americans. Long term development, increase our connections with central america.

Even if this kid doesn't work out, he will have friends who have friends who play good soccer, and the Dynamo gets more connections in Central America and expererience dealing with central americans.

Every central american (or mexican) has a cousin in Houston. Let's take advantage of the cultural connection! No need to be begging prima dona europeans to come snub our city!

I am soooo happy, that I seriously opening my 2008 Caymus cab later today:)

Loroco pupusas, troutsth, loroco pupusas. Queso is my second choice.

Guatemalan news video of Pedro Asturias telling everybody how proud and happy he was to be invited to try out for the Houston Dynamo:
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VQlZzjCcX4"]GUATEMALA Pedro Asturias " PELU"pruebas HOUSTON DYNAMO - YouTube[/ame]

I couldn't stand the woman's squeaky voice (and the poor recording) so I only watched the video once, but I believe she mentioned that he was invited to visit the US by the Dynamo AND three different universities. He's been playing since he was a young kid, but he only started playing for his soccer academy for 4 months. His trainer says that he works hard and wants to practice all the time.

Pedro apparently arrived in Houston last weekend. Or is arriving this weekend.

    Any sightings?

This could be the signing of the season, so don't dismiss it as "just as academy kid".:(

    It's all about scouting,
the team needs to make a contact in each country for quality scouting and not rely on youtube videos.

from the live chat with Canetti:

Is Pedro Asturias on trial with the Dynamo? There was a rumor that he will be coming in from Guatemala. I would like it for you to get someone from Guatemala, what do you think? Maybe someone from the U-20 Guatemalan team from this past WC.

Houston Dynamo: He is not with us. We are always looking for new talent from wherever they might come.

Ja, ja, ja! I'm not sure I understand Canetti's response. Does this mean that Pedro is not even on trial?

Canetti's answers to many questions were a bit evasive, I'm not sure I even cared to read them all. I'm not a big fan of Canetti (particularly when compared to Mr. Oliver Luck!).

Maybe this Guatemalan kid made up the whole thing because he wanted to spend a week in Houston????

TRUE STORY (or at least, the way it was told to me):
A couple of years ago, a rich central american teenager came to Houston with his family. He told his parents that he wanted to spend an extra weekend with his Houston relatives, but spent the weekend alone instead. He managed to rent a hotel room near the airport, he had an escort come to his room, and then he flooded the hotel room playing in the bathtub:eek:.

My friends, his Houston relatives, had to pay for the damages and they put him in the next plane home. The kid had to use some kind of diplomatic ties to get out of further trouble. I'm not sure who paid for the escort.

I thought the story ended with the escort being a transvestite, but my friends now deny that part of the story.:D

wait, are we saying Pedro Asturias had sex with a transvestite, and then flooded a hotel to cover up the murder? Did I miss something?

    Ja, ja, ja.

Seriously, did this kid ever make it here, or was someone misinformed?

Oh, well, I guess he won't become the next Freddy Adu.
