Both defenses showed a sound game. Not an easy task to defend Kai/Marta respectivly for the whole 90 minutes. Really, really liked the effort of Asante and Falk.
While Kai had some promising drives there seemed to be always a body/leg blocking her shooting lane. So some chances weren`t as clear as they seemed to be. Good work/back-up by Sol defenders here. Getting beat by the post sure hurts.:(

The instant somebody suffers an (unforced) injury late in the game, he will have problems to answer that question.

Agree with you though I doubt Rogers will explain lack of subs. Meaningful interviews with coaches after the game scarce. Thought a good sub would have been Zerboni for Wagner. Zerboni not on the bench according to Matchtracker. Is she at the wedding? Maybe she's marrying Makoski's brother:D
Player of the game: Parker on Sky Blue
Squishy field like running through sand. Advantage Sky Blue as they're not coming off 3 games in a week.

Since I have panned the FSC announcers it's only fair to compliment Universal(NBC) broadcast). A pleasure.

Agree with both Tsunami and Older and Bolder - where were the subs?? If there ever was a game to use subs early and often....this was it.

The Sol players looked so tired and exhausted starting with Wagner, Bock and Sanchez....not sure who I would have subbed first. Running on a wet field is like running sand on a beach and so tiring.

Sol defense played well and were stout against a lot of NJ pressure and ball play in their end. Surprise at how well they held up.

Glad for the tie, we were fortunate.

I don't really have any complaints about the Sol, I love the team. But what's up with Rogers never subbing players????? I hope this does not hurt us in the future. You could tell the players where tired yet he did not sub. As a soccer player and fan its just weird that he did not sub.

The Universal commentator stated that Marta just looked tired too...

Even Ronaldo has been subbed out in the last remaining minutes by Sir Alex at least once past season...

I was at the game... Weather allowed the teams to play even.... rain in the first half was bad... it let up at the start of the second
the Crowd was over 4100 and the LOUDPEAKER guy was not killing everyone and squashing all the cheering. The players were all cold coming on for the second half...

i will write a review tomorrow when I get to it... I just wanted to mention that I stopped at the Bridgewater Commons mall to walk around before finishing the trip to the game (15 minutes away) I stopped in the Puma store and no WPS stuff at all... tons of people walk this mall every day and i bet not one has a clue that Puma sponsors a Soccer team in the area - What a wasted opportunity to drive the message of the WPS to literrally 100 of thousands per month

It's one of my biggest peeves when a coach refuses to sub off his star players, even when they are clearly exhausted and not adding much to the game. Rogers has done this many times this season, and tonight was the most obvious. Not only does using tired players take away from the immediate game, but it also drains the confidence of the bench players. It's not like LA doesn't have any depth. What is he thinking?

Wendy's commentating was a breath of fresh air, and I never thought I'd say that. I guess its all relative. She used to annoy me when she did national team broadcasts, but I enjoyed her insights tonight. And the PBP commentator was competent as well. Kudos.

I attended (first ever women's soccer game of any kind - yeah !) and was entertained beyond expectations - the videos I had seen did not convey the standards of passing and tackling.

Also despite the incessant rain (well the umbrellas came down for maybe a total of 10 minutes) and the waterlogged (in places) pitch, the players did their damnest and both sides wanted to win. In fact at times it was end-to-end football. And I never expected to see so many women sliding all-out for tackles and then a lot further due to greasy field. It looked downright dangerous in fact.

I agree completely about the comments here on substitutions, as far as I recall there was only one (by Sky Blue) out of 6 possibilities, and given the tiredness and the obvious risk of injuries you would think they should have been used early. Still, who knows what the coaches would say.

Marta was fast, and Boxx was in the middle of everything, but I would say that the MVP quite rightly went to Kai - I had thought she was a goal-poacher but really she is a complete player.

Thank You. I came to the Sol via - of all things - being a fan of what is called Nadeshiko Japan (their NT) and especially their Olympics run. That NT plays like the Brazilian men used to - endless one-touch passes to make their way into the box, and very little wing-play.

So I wanted to take the last chance this year to see Aya Miyama play, and I think her style has influenced the team a little. However she was not (and perhaps is not) the infuential player on the team yesterday - of course some passes just "stopped" then they hit water, and it was inevitably a physical game. But it was a thrill to see something for "real" whereas before it had just been all "internet" stuff.

By the way, assuming there are playoff at the end of the year, then based upon what I saw yesterday there is very little difference between the bottom and top teams. It would be accurate to say that Sky Blue easily won on "points" from my very wet seat.

Hmmm. What might the LA bench do? Well, maybe something like Fletcher -- a player who saw no time after the opening game -- did today for St. Louis. Several of LA's bench players would be starters on any other team.
