i like torres, oddly enough despite my quip. he still has my backing and i still have this obstinate, persisting feeling that he can still come good.

that said: for as long as he remains in this rut, my confidence in him to score is very low

considering Romeu is a Barca product i'm surprised how often he elects for the long ball. and it never comes off

aaaand Fulham have the first shot on goal

I miss Kalou. At least when we bitched/moaned at him he would invariably score to shut us all up.

    much better from Oscar

perhaps we should try passing to someone else other than Torres in the final third

The game offers very little to discuss, except this: Tony Gale is a prick.

boy, when Ramires has a shocker, he REALLY has a shocker. he's been awful. but it's hard to comparatively assess him since everyone else has been nearly as bad

We needed an inspirational coach more than anything, and we got the most uninspirational coach you can possibly get...

rafa's sitting on the bench taking notes.

i've never understood the point of taking notes during a game. if you see something that needs fixing, YELL AT THE F**KING PLAYERS

I'll have to apologize in advance for this comment. While we haven't been troubled defensively, we have looked pretty inept going forward. The only person playing up to their standard is Oscar from an attacking standpoint. Hazard and Torres have been below par (or is it pretty much par for course with Torres these days?). We have not been dynamic from the left side - and how could we with a rigid left back who will not drift inwards to open up space for Ashley Cole.

Romeu and Ramires have been neat and tidy in midfield, and have been disciplined, but maybe too a fault. It's clear they've been given instructions (particularly Ramires) not to bomb forward, and while this is giving us much needed defensive resilience, it's at the expense of our attacking impetus. The back line overall has been solid. I like the moment where Luiz took upon himself to drive into the final third to give us some energy. It goes without saying, but we simply have to take off Bertrand as he is offering us nothing from an attacking standpoint. They are attacking through the middle and not on our left flank, so he's a luxury at this point. Bring on Mata and open up their defense. Put them under pressure. If things don't change, then we are looking at another 0-0 result on the trot which is simply unacceptable. We're not Sunderland. We're looking mid-week Juventus bad right now.
