Solid HT, leading 2-1. Some questionable blunders, definitely room for improvement, but in general ok. Leading against Malaga, never bad.
I'm honestly not impressed by any of the guys who've come in tonight apart from Song and maybe Adriano. Thiago was doing well up until his mistake, Alexis seems shattered every time he touches the ball, Montoya not moving quick enough and making some errors, Tello not very active, and Pinto is making risky passes. Hopefully these players will pick it up in the second half, Tito needs to inspire some new confidence into them in the dressing room. 2-1 isn't all that great a lead to take to Andalusia next week, hopefully we'll get another goal or two. A really tough game so far though.
That's why I was hoping he would shoot. When you do two impossible things, may as well go for a third.
Alexis should have scored at least two goals with these golden chances that he had, not good enough. I would swap him right away for Pedro or Cesc, we need a couple of goals more to increase the chance of advancing...
I forgot that he had come in, for whatever reason. He's been the best of those along with Song in any case, not just for his goal.
thiago has been excellent apart from the goal. i think that's more on pinto though because he's the one with the full view of the pitch and he picked the wrong pass there.
I like Alexis and all, and I really don't like to be impatient or sell our players mid-season, but imo Alexis HAS TO step up this spring in noticeable way or to start the next season elsewhere. At the moment, he plays in Barca but not in Barca level. That said, I believe him to step up (and obviously he is gonna score tonight eventually if doesn't get subben off too soon).
We need to get him a new shirt number. Everyone who wears the 9 seems to either develop a crappy first touch or end up in a mental funk.
We need to make it 3-1 before FT, just saying. Preferably 4-1, but one more goal at least is definitely needed.
