2012/2013 Rock Hard Championship Challenge Cup

The All Rocks League will be used to collect scores for our internal competitions. All 32 teams are in but you need to be in the top 30 at the cut off points to play into the rounds.

The three 12-Week Cups (Autumn, Winter and Spring versions)

All drafted teams entered into the All Rocks League are eligible to play.

Gameweeks 1 and 2 will be used to get the Rock Hard Championship League table rolling and allow managers to make post draft adjustments to snap up players still in the pool.
12-Week Autumn Cup
Table positions will be recorded after Gameweek 2 and the competition will run from Gameweek 3 to Gameweek 14.
12-Week Winter Cup
Table positions will be recorded after Gameweek 14 and the competition
will run from Gameweek 15 to Gameweek 26.
12-Week Spring Cup
Table positions will be recorded after Gameweek 26 and the competition
will run from Gameweek 27 to Gameweek 38.

In case of a tie breaker – the point totals of the weeks 2, 14 and 26 will be combined to determine a winner.

Capture The Colour

Granted I haven't put much time into thinking about it but I have to say that I'm totally lost as to the overall idea behind this set-up. Can't find any logic in how (or why) the progression is done, in how (or why) the match-ups are decided or why the loser of a tie sometimes progresses and sometimes doesn't.
Not saying your doing it wrong mind, just that I don't understand it.

It is a 12 week tournament run 3 times... Fall, Winter and Spring

All 32 teams start out. The first matches are set based on the All Rocks Table after week 2.

16 matches start us out. Each match is numbered to see where you go the following week based on result. After this first weekend, 2 teams will be eliminated. The teams playing these match ups are our bottom 4 teams in the table. Losers are eliminated.

The following week you move up the grouping based on a win or a loss. The top of the pack at this point can go a couple of losses before they find themselves in an elimination match.

As he alluded to above, 1800 created the format, not Tarv. I believe conceptually he was trying to create a competition that created an incentive for teams that were struggling to stay interested and active. It definitely doesn't follow the standard tournament progression where strongest plays weakest, and instead pits strongest against strongest and so on. The elimination line is somewhat arbitrary and will depend on whether we need 2 or 4 eliminations in a week in order to get to the end in the right number of weeks. In the end, it's fairly random, but as a general rule, the key is to avoid 2 bad weeks in a row, as the first will likely drop you below the elimination line and the second will send you packing. (If you're lucky, you may get away with an extra loss in the early weeks and still be above the line if you lose a high enough ranked game, but this comp is not very forgiving and in many ways quite random, as I believe was intended).

FC Touchline Ban and FC Weymouth are the first casualties of the Fall Cup. FC Touchline Ban moves up the Table and would have won against just about any other team this week. Getting things into gear and giving the badge to Berbatov, the manager can look for solid numbers in the near future. But the match up against Top Shelf and an awesome Tevez night was too much for this weekend.

The Nomadic Gatherings scout was sent to the ColdDogSoup FC training camp and has since returned with his cap between his legs; reporting that the Nomads could soon be gathering a cold, loser's medal.

Real Newark gets the second highest score but drops to an elimination match after 352 pounds 76 points in. At the top BiggerBoat and Blech Dawgs are the title match and just below is Nomadic Wanderings and ColdDogSoup. A couple of classics. FC St. Pauli gets out by the skin of their teeth. They are dropping like flies around here. It a game where luck and consistency go far, ThiKu drops out with a bad night on the "Who to Pick as Captain Show." Evidently it was Granero and not Duff. FC St. Pauli would have suited up the trainer if it was allowed since Nasri, Ramirez, Bertrand, Petric and Taylor were of no use.

Moving up the table, BiggerBoat and Nomadic Gatherings come up for air, only to find out they are fighting for the same flotation device. A Sand League slug fest for sure. At the top, we have a Small Rocks derby with Cold Dog earning rights for the title match versus the dawgs. Now the Dogs just took over 2nd Place from the Dawgs. What each is hoping for is that their secret weapon (that guy that has been hidden on the bench for weeks now) will come to full power. We will see if Ashley Young for Agent Dog and Adebayor for Agent Dawg come on the seen. Meanwhile, "Dogs, Dawgs, Dogs!" will be echoing in the stadium..

Doing the write ups here before the Olympics and low and behold, the Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists are all here and wrecking havoc on each others hope and dreams.

blech brings home the Silver with brave Tevez as captain and his Uruguayan World Cup rival as partner only to lose narrowly in the elimination match to Gold Winning Nellie Wanderers with Captain Osman picked over Van Persie and Podalski to guide the way. Nani was left kicking up the heals for both squads.

Bronze Medalists Pittsadelphia and Central Park Rangers were matched up as well. Luckily for Central Park it was not an elimination match because the tie goes to the hometeam which was in Pittsadelphia. Eddie enjoyed a fine outing from Robin and Gareth did likewise for Paul.


At the top of the heap, Lobo got the Captain (read Mata) right after fielding a squad of limping potential. Macion just got to sit in the middle of the pitch so that Torres tripped over him and was ejected. Will have to make transfers soon as Lobo has a squad of one legged midfielders. FC Springfield also got to enjoy the Torres redcard but Ben Arfa fizzed out as a captain. It was Clichy, Santos and Malony adding up to 22 of the 33 points for the team. Off to 4th place in VSR is further punishment.

In the second billing, the Tevzter outgunned the Agueromeister. Top Shelf selects a nice rum after the BiggerBoat sinking.

Seriously? My first medal of the season and it's silver, and I'm matched up against the team that gets gold? As I noted yesterday, I knew this was going to come down to bonus points, but where is Cannon for a good rant when I need one. I watched the bulk of the Everton-Liverpool game and Suarez was a force. Creates the first goal, scores the second, and then notches the winner only to have it wrongly removed by a phantom offside call. But he doesn't get bonus points because he missed some shots? Seriously? Nellie gets 5 BPs in this game - 3 from Naismith and 1 doubled from Captain Osman - but you will never convince me that Suarez didn't outplay both of them in this game, nor is there any great rationale for all 6 of the bonus points going to Everton players.

Not that it matters for me in this competition as I would certainly find a way to lose down the road, but in my world of bonus points, an actual human is looking at this game and saw that Suarez had a goal wrongly taken away and gives him 3 points just to even things out a little. Now that's fair AND helps me win this matchup....

Lobo barely ekes out a squad. Newbie Nasri was one of the few bright spots with players bringing in only one or two points. Top Shelf suffered equally with only Hart able to get above two. Pittsadelpha got to enjoy the good fortune of having Van Persie on the squad to break the 30's. His opponent Glorydaze use defense and Ben Arfa to gain on the dismal weekend. Nellie Wanderers also get to thank their Van Persie as Real Neward only has Mirrales over 2 and a Captain Defoe to multiply to equal that number. FC Springfield showed great depfth to eke a win over BiggerBoat. Coach Brody is going to have to think long and hard about captaining Vertonghen. Luckily, that did not happen with his Open Squad. Actually, I would have done the same with Defoe if I didn't have the my gel loving striker. Real Mos Easley give Ben Arfa the armband and gives special thanks to Gorkss for securing the win. Coloccini not so much.

Just double checking, did something get lost in the cutting and pasting and is there supposed to be a "week 10" so that only 2 teams get eliminated this week? No worries if you've done it on purpose and I'm ready to get the winter round up and running, but it looks like you've cut out week unnecessarily given the number of weeks needed to run a full seasonal cup.
