Not at all. Nor do fellow libertarians. I respect and support freedom in all facets, whether for individual or for groups including groups of business men i.e corporations, of life. Much the same way the left supports their version of "justice" in all facets of life.
I'm fine with economic freedom as a concept. But of course defining it is hard. A New Zealand doctor who is only permitted to practice medicine as a national government employee -- and who is taxed bigtime -- might chuckle as seeing New Zealand lauded as a land of economic freedom.
ahhh. That's why you thought I was a Marxist. You assume that because you're a Utopian, I must be, too. That also explains why you can overlook the pretty obvious contradiction in your post.
I read Utopia senior year of high school. I liked the part where the couple that was to be married were supposed to strip in front of each other so there would be no surprises after marriage. I remember thinking that is how it should be for senior proms too. I then imagined various girls in my History class attired for their proms, and then dutifully performing the Utopian strip. Ah good times. The rest of the essay I can't much recall.
God damn there's just sooo many libertarians on the right side of the aisle these days. Where the hell were they when we invaded Iraq? If only they coulda been there! Maybe they could have stopped Medicare Part D, too.
Hopefully, this puts an end to recalls when there isn't a case of malfeasance or blatant corruption...
What are your thoughts on situations where corporations work together to impinge upon the freedom of individuals? Does your head smoke up like a computer fighting a verbal battle with Captain Kirk?
Seig Heil! (Picture wouldn't load, the "message is too long"). Ah too bad, it's a great picture. But see link. http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2012/06/wisconsin’s-recall-election
Curious anyone on this site who isn't retired getting money from the government? If so don't you feel like a failure because you can't make it on your own?
I dunno, do the red states feel like failures because they can't make it on their own and suck on blue-state titties for Federal transfer payments?
New York = Germany Oklahoma = Greece It's not hard to see why Germany doesn't want to sign on for permanent transfer payments via the EU to periphery states with high levels of corruption and poorly run economies...
JohnR this is about something else. Do you have an 22 yr old son that played in a tournament in Italy about 4 years ago when he was 18? It is probably another JohnR a shot in the dark.
Yep a different JohnR ... mine did play a couple of Spain tournaments in his youth day, but not Italy.
On the contrary, it's what I call success. I don't work because other people work hard for me, which puts me in the leisure class. And thanks to internet pornography, I have a harem larger than any Shiekh in history. So, thanks again, hardworking entrepreneurs to whom I will never be grateful.
My salary, health care and tuition are paid for by the state government. However, I'm not a failure because I beat out hundreds of other applicants for the spot and the gamble by the government is that the economic multiplier effect of my research and teaching is greater than $1.
I was reminded this morning that Walker didn't kill the unions out of deficit-stopping principle, he killed them because they were the enemy. He sucked off the kings of pork, police and firefighters, in exchange for their vote. I had forgotten that. My error for taking a Republican politician at face value.
Not only did he syphon off the police and firefighters, but when the unions came to the table and said, "ok, we agree with the entire raft of cuts you want," he simply ignored them and went for the jugular anyway. This was always about crippling the enemy's ability to wage war.
