Those losses look pretty big. Who do you think will fill those shoes?

Schürrle & Fuchs are big losses, yes. But Pospech & Stieber are talented enough to fill those shoes (Stieber maybe not immediately).

Yeah, someone should change the title... :D

Pretty emberassing, but we gotta live with it. They actually didn't play that bad and the new players showed their talent, which gives me some hope, they just completely failed to score goals. I hope Tuchel can do something about this quickly.

My biggest fear though is the psychological impact on our players. They need to get an early win in the season or even better, something like the 4:3 comeback win against Wolfsburg last season. If the first games are lost, the season could be over before it started.

Maybe the preseason was an aberration. Today they played just like last year, totally outplaying Leverkusen. Constant pressure. That was fun to watch. And Tuchel's reactions were great.

Some Mod could change the title to "Back to Europe" or something. We only need to become 6th this time instead of 5th, so... :D

    1. FSV Mainz 05 has confirmed on their official website that Mohamed Zidan is once again a Mainz player.

I wish him all the best and thank him for his service to BVB.

And he scored our only goal on Sat. We`ll take the point in Gelsenkirchen... although there was probably more in it for us considering Schalke didn`t even have a shot on goal until 3 min. before halftime. Mo is back!! Thank gawd he was injured much of the time at BVB and never caught on... that sounds wrong... but I`m a selfish s.o.b. :)

Dude, it wasn't that he "never caught on." On the contrary. Two years ago, he was an important player on our roster. Mo Zidan was the player who worked with Lucas Barrios the best.

However, while Zidan was recovering from his injury suffered after he took over the role behind the strikers, we acquired Lewandowski (who we were getting whether Mo had been injured or not) and Kagawa (who came out of nowhere) and Mario Götze emerged. Mo just couldn't get past all of that.

Before the injuries and acquisitions, while he wasn't a "leading scorer", he was an important player for us.

Just think of this. Mo put the guy who starts in central midfield for Stuttgart now (Tamas Hajnal) on the bench. And it wasn't at striker. It was in central midfield. Hajnal's natural position.

Trust me. We BVB fans knew it was fair to let Mo leave. It doesn't mean we wanted him to go. However, this was the right thing to do.

And sending him back to Mainz was REALLY the right thing to do.

It certainly worked out for both clubs this past weekend as you see below.

For those who don't understand German, the caption says, "Zidan Scores Against Schalke In Dortmund Shoes"

    LMAO!!

I'm sure I speak for most BVB fans when I say we wish Mo Zidan and 1. FSV Mainz 05 all the best for the future.

Well, except for March 3rd. ;-)

Thank you BVB for letting Mo come back to Mainz. That move really paid off for us. :)

I think we should be safe now and stay clear of the relegation battle, even though we might lose next match against Mo's former team. In fact, I almost hope we'll lose there so Dortmund can stay in front of Bayern...

Not sure whether I should request a change for the thread title or just leave it for the irony of it.

Looking forward to the match this weekend. I've got a bit of a soft spot for Mainz, and I think the new Coface Arena looks great. :)
