    IT’S NOT A FRIENDLY!

This week’s Champion’s league fixture sees Sounders FC face the Costa Rican side Herediano for the second time in six days. Last week Sounders FC reached another milestone in their club history with their first victory in Costa Rica. Fredy Montero looked like a man on fire and led the club with two goals. Nate Jaqua and Roger Levesque both contributed stellar performances and each had an assist on Montero’s goals (going off standard assist rules, not MLS double-assist rules). Herediano never looked truly dangerous during the match. The side from Alajuela had to dive in the box to earn their only goal off a penalty converted by forward Jose Cancela.
This Tuesday Sounders will have to juggle the lineup yet again. Mauro Rosales sprained his MCL against DC United on Saturday. We’ll find out for certain tomorrow what the long-term implications for the club will be. Also, after Herediano Sounders will go on a three game road trip that will see them visit Vancouver, BC, Guatemala City and Boston within nine days. However, the team cannot look beyond Herediano because a home win will virtually ensure that our beloved club will win the group and play a second-seeded team in the quarterfinals.
Sure, mid-week matches can be tough to get out to. Yes, you’ll have to lose a little sleep on Wednesday morning and brew a stronger coffee as well. Regardless Sounders FC will need us Tuesday. So pull yourself up by the bootstraps, brew yourself some strong coffee and tell the boss you’ll be in a little late Wednesday (they won’t mind anyways). Champions League games also provide the perfect opportunity to expose family and friends to your love of ECS. So round up some co-workers, some friends from the bar, your mom and that girl or boy you’ve wanted to speak to and we’ll see you at RBP on Tuesday night!
