It looked bad. Daniel started waving to the sidelines immediately and he was taken off on a stretcher even though it was his left arm that was hurt. I suspect a broken arm or dislocated elbow.

In watching the replays on TV, it looked like a dislocated elbow, which I had a few years ago and wouldn't wish on anybody. It also didn't look like it was the result of any dirty or reckless play, just everything coming together at the wrong angles as C-Rod was falling from a rather ordinary foul.

On the upside, if there are no broken bones, it shouldn't keep him out too terribly long.

I heard dislocated, but that is in no way confirmed. If true we can probably put an end to his run this season, that's another pretty serious injury. Hard to think he can recover and then crack the lineup again.

    Oh my.

First 10 minutes were horrid. Then we took control and deserved the lead. Lucky to get it on an ify call but a goal is a goal.

Second half, we were flat and sloppy for the first 20 minutes and eventually paid of it. By the time we pulled our head out we couldn't get a decent attack going. Top doesn't look too ready, especially in Perez's shoes. Wish we could have kept Sealy in there longer.

Castillo has to be one of the most frustrating players to watch. So much talent and potential but so little brains. Really needed to finish that great run in the first half. Is a little too predictable on the dribble. Doesn't read the game that well and needed to make runs but instead looked lazy. Very disappointing, especially with all of our injuries. We need more from him.

i am not here to troll, but come on. morales didnt mean to hurt him, morales was going in for the ball and when he fell over the ball he put his arm in front of it. both players collided, morales immediately stopped his forward motion when he saw fernandez falling over the ball. it was just unlucky that his arm came down between the ground and morales. just one of those awkward falls and collisions that dont end well.

i think if there is one person who would do everything they possibly could do to prevent themselves from hurting another player in that manner, it would be morales, after coming off his gruesome ankle fracture+dislocation.

This game breaks down pretty easy. First half rsl could not keep up with FCD pace (especially Johnson). Bad penalty call puts Brek on the spot and he hit a nice ball.
Second half bus driver slowly started to park the bus. After Rodriguez' arm was sponsored by the letter S the bus came to a halt. Slow Johnson then went bonkers and caused enough trouble to lead to a goal.

The moral to the story: the bus driver sucks at parking. He should stay on the highway.

Lastly, I was very impressed with big George. He actually threaded some sweet passes to the attack and disrupted RSL all night.

Didn't think Dallas parked the bus at all. Jackson for Rodriguez was a logical sub. Top for Sealy was an equally logical sub and Pertuz played in midfield, not defense, when he was subbed for Warshaw.

What did you want him to do? They stayed in a 4-4-2 the whole match.

BTW, Rodriguez definitely has a dislocated elbow and I hear his recovery time is 2-4 weeks.

Sorry I meant Rodriguez, not Fernandez in my post above. Hope for a speedy recovery for him, hate seeing players suffer those ugly injuries.

I want to say thanks to all the cool Dallas fans last night that put up with my loud mouth. After some good-natured back-and-forth, it was handshakes and smiles all around. My family and I had a great time. This will definitely be a yearly tradition for us, although I hope next year the game is on a Saturday so we can get to know Dallas a bit better.

It was a tale of two halves. Dallas traffic got us to the game late, so I didn't see the first 10 where I guess RSL dominated? But the last 30 minutes of the first half were supremely frustrating for me. And that penalty call, well, anyone that was within 3 or 4 sections of me knows what I thought of that :)

Second half was much more fun as RSL actually decided to play. I hope Rodriguez can get back on the field quickly. I never like to see serious injuries for anyone. The 1-1 result feels fair IMO based on the effort I saw on the field from both teams. Thanks again for the fun night and the parking info. The rematch is only a month away. Good luck at the RioT!

PS - what the hell did you guys do to Chris Seitz??? He's, like, legitimate now, or something :)

Not saying it is right or wrong, but I believe RSL thought that they had possession when the injury occurred. The reason FCD ended up with the ball to play out was because the RSL player didn't notice the other RSL player was injured and attempted to pass to him.

I would have probably given the ball back though. It seems like more and more that teams aren't putting the ball out of play when an opponent gets injured. Sportsmanship seems to be going downhill. It's too bad really.

Hope for a speedy recover to Rodriguez.
There was no malice in the tackle by Morales. If anything, I'd point the blame at Beckerman instead as he was the one who actually fouled Rodriguez. Even then, though, it was a typical foul that just ended in a really weird fall.

again, hope for a speedy recovery.

Good luck the rest of the season unless you're at the RioT

Rodriguez tweeted this morning that he dislocated his left elbow.

Go back and watch the tape. Midway through the second half the back line hung deep except for the occasional Jair foray (which I was happy to see again) and the mids tended to lay deeper. The formation stayed the same but they were definitely more compact on the run up to the goal. After that they spread back out a little bit and it released some pressure.

Well I don't disagree, I guess what I should say is I don't think it was Schellas telling everyone to play defensively as much as it was RSL really pushing forward for the equalizer which organically pushes Dallas back.

I guess I would say, what options did Dallas have but try to protect the 1-0 lead and steal a win? They had Fabian Castillo and Jon Top playing at forward for goodness sake, a right mid who stepped off a plane from Brazil that morning and two defensive midfielders in the center of the park.

Until Villar/Ferreira get back, it is what it is.

yeah i think the pressure was just too much, but i think the idea of keeping castillo high as that counter-attack threat when other teams are pushing for a goal is a good one. but back to the point of not having that CAM out there to make that transitional pass...it's going to be tough.

Honestly I was down the other end of the pitch, had drunk a few beers, and haven't watched the replay yet, so what I saw at the time may not be what actually happened. My blame for the incident was on Beckerman, not Morales. His foul did look reckless from the angle I was at.

As I said though, I haven't seen it on TV yet.

Immaterial. FCD had possession and played the ball out. If we were poor sports we could have kept the ball and gone on the attack. There dozens of times in a game a player goes down and there is a change in possession and play continues and the player gets up in 3 or 4 seconds, if longer than that everyone lets the ball carrier know and the team in possession puts the ball out at his own discretion. That is what happened last night.

Very very poor for RSL to not give the ball back. I think RSL is a fine team, esp. the full starting XI, good stadium and good support and overall a good franchise, that was just really disappointing to see.

I hope to make a game at Rio Tinto one day.
