Pilib de Brún @Malachians 5h Interviewed Eamonn Holmes earlier who met with Fergie today. Utd looking for something short term, want Giggs to take over in 3 yrs.
Why do they want a guy who has no experience at this point? I'm getting fed up with this nonsense. Stop trying to invent some pretentious "United way" and just hire the best ********ing coach available.
Depends who is available and they appoint, i guess. If it's Van Gaal, then could be looking at a Real Madrid Ancelotti - Zidane type arrangement where he is primed to take over.
Afterwards Seedorf described what van Gaal wanted from his players. ‘The focal point of training sessions is the ball itself,’ Seedorf said. ‘Only those who show perfect control of the ball in every situation are selected.’
That could mean Van Gaal with Giggs as assistant. I don't see how that could be bad. I hope we make an offer to Klopp and see what he thinks. If he's unavailable then I don't mind Van Gaal taking over. Someone (Read Rooney) is pissing in his pants.
Mike Keegan @mikekeeganmen 2m Breaking: Ancelotti has ruled himself out of the running for the #mufc job. More soon.
Klopp already ruled himself out. MAybe we'll find out next manager here. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-job-football-manager-3456816
They're probably waiting for all the major leagues to end, so they can see if there would be surprising sackings of top managers at other clubs. Also I'm guessing they'll allow Giggs to work with the team in peace for our remaining four matches, without announcing the next head coach already, which would be a tad disrespectful, imo.
If it's Van Gaal he'll take over after the World Cup anyway. Till then can have informal sort of consultations only, i guess. Though need to confirm either way soon. All sorts of his ex players, dutch players and journos clamouring for him right now. He is keen alright.
Ryan Giggs is perfect for the Manchester United job, says Sir Alex Ferguson Sir Alex Ferguson has thrown his weight behind Ryan Giggs to become the next manager of Manchester United, supported by the Class of '92 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...hester-United-job-says-Sir-Alex-Ferguson.html
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-icon-alex-ferguson-3459298 Mirror say he has only backed him as Caretaker boss.
Don't forget kids that we have never had a manager who wasn't British or Irish. Appointing LvG or anyone else will be a big change for the "top red" segment of United.
I'm as keen as anyone for Giggs to succeed as interim manager. That being said, appointing him permanently is optimistic. LVG says he likes to keep one coach, let that be giggs. In 3 or so years when Giggsy has seen how to play a modern formation and LVG has worn out his welcome, then we can see if Giggs is ready.
