AFAIK, the main applicant cannot transfer his/her ticket, but the guest tickets can be transferred. Once the transfer is done (on FIFA ticketing account website), it should show the new name as the "guest" in the ticket details. I think a printout of this details along with the email conformation (which does not have guest names btw) would be adequate proof of purchased tickets.
I appreciate all your replies, I talked to a few agencies and the price for processing and mailing is about $580 - $650. I don't want to spend that much for a visa for only 12 days.Since U.S citizens do not need visas to Canada and can stay up to 90 days without special visas, I may be considered legal non- permanent resident. The only issue is, if the Brazil Consulate in BC will make a fuss. S.F is out of the question, I can't afford a whole day of plus flying in and out on Wednesday to apply. ''Definitely confirm with them before you go to Vancouver. I'm a US citizen and wanted to do the same thing at the Toronto consulate and they told me they couldn't process me since I'm not in their jurisdiction. Just send them an email and ask. Address should be on their web site. Toronto responded in a day.'' JohnnyMctootinstuff - I think they should have accepted your application in Toronto. Their website states,(http://toronto.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/tourist_visa.xml) if you are returning to your country of origin after visiting (Brazil) then you didn't have be a permanent resident or Canadian to apply for a Brazilian Tourist Visa in Canada. ''f) For non-Canadians without a Permanent Resident card or valid Canadian visa, valid visa to country of final destination after trip to Brazil (this requirement does not apply to applicants returning to country of citizenship);'' Sent a another email with a more specific question about jurisdiction as a non-resident U.S. Keeping fingers crossed for good news.
Before you try Canada, why don't you take a chance and send your application via mail to Atlanta consulate? A few members here have had luck with WC visas at that consulate even though they didn't live in the jurisdiction. You are risking about $11 and some time.
Atlanta will definitely be my second option after Vancouver. I think this answers the question about Vancouver. This is the email I shot off after my first few posts. "To: Consulate General of Brazil - Visa Section Subject: RE: World Cup Visa. Thank you, so if I understood you this means I can fill out the form and come in with my passport on regular working hours of the consulate and have an interview, since you don't make appointments? Following the same rules as Canadian residents apply for Visas. Appreciate your timely response. ######. " Here is the reply from the Consulate (Vancouver) : Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you for contacting the Visa Section at the Brazilian Consulate in Vancouver. Yes, you can come. But, please, read all the information on our website before: http://vancouver.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/ Sincerely, Setor de Vistos | Visa Section Consulado Geral do Brasil em Vancouver | Consulate General of Brazil in Vancouver 666 Burrard Street | suite 2020 | Vancouver | BC | V6C 2X8 Tel.: +1.604.696.5311 Fax: +1.604.696.5366 visa.vancouver@itamaraty.gov.br http://vancouver.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/
Hmmm, I am not sure that is conclusive. If I were you, I would try the Atlanta consulate first. And ASAP.
I find it odd that I went into the NYC Consulate with a Canadian Passport and it took all of 20 seconds at the window. I didn't have to show proof I was a permanent resident if the US, nor proof I was in their jurisdiction.
For my sister (non US citizen) they asked for her green card. Good thing we brought it, she had misplaced the card, and we were going to go the consulate without it. They made a photocopy of her greencard for her application at the window. I guess each consulate is different.
@PabloSanDiego did your friend need to have something in writing granting him the right to drop off all those packages or did he just drop them off? My friend is going up early next week, hope we beat this Ticket Certificate mess.
I'll ask him tomorrow but I am 99% certain he didn't have anything. He said the agent there was really easy to work with. he said his pickup date is 13 may also, so they are backing up.
Yeah, the theme of this thread seems to show that every consulate is different and has their own rules and nuances. There's no rhyme or reason to any of it.
I just verified he didn't have anything authorizing to drop off the packages, he just dropped them off.
Hi all. I've spent the last few minutes looking back through this thread, but in the interest of time, I thought I'd just post my question. It looks like I will have to go through the LA office. I won't be able to travel to LA to obtain the Visa. So...which Visa Agency should I use to get the job done? And, is the LA Consulate requiring this random FIFA Certificate thingie?
Each consulate website has different instruction on what is acceptable. I went to Miami on business so I stopped by the consulate to try to get my visa. Their website says they require the certificate. I brought my confirmation email and print out of the FIFA page showing all names on the tickets- I thought it was worth a shot. One by one, everyone with a World Cup visa application was sent home because they did not have the certificate. I showed the lade behind the glass that other consulates were fine with what I had but she could not accept it. She showed me a copy of the "certificate" and said that other have been receiving it but most have not had it. She seemed sorry she couldn't help. I contacted FIFA to ask explain the situation. They replied stating that I would not be receiving the certificate because I had paid for ticket delivery. They also stated that "Ticket Certificates can be used in conjunction with your official ID in order to collect your Tickets from one of the FIFA Venue Ticketing Centres in Brazil, and can also be used to support your application should you require a VISA for travel and entry into Brazil." No word on when my tickets would arrive. If they do not arrive soon I will be cutting it close with the VISA. At the consulate I asked about just paying for the normal Visa but that would end up costing an additional $640 for the 4 visas for my family and she could not guarantee we would get it on time for our trip. She suggested waiting for the ticket confirmation or tickets since those are given priority. This is very frustrating and it seems not much can be done. Has anyone applied successfully for a visa in a different jurisdiction? The Consulate websites say I must apply in Miami. Can I try a different consulate?
Mail your shit to ATL. People seem to have been very successful with that, even people out of their jurisdiction. Check out their official website for info
Anyway to verify ATL will take my stuff? I haven't seen any posts saying going out of their jurisdiction has worked.
Actually, quite a few here (some in the last 3 pages) had success with Atlanta (out of jurisdiction). Just send it via priority mail and include priority mail return envelope. The most you are risking is about $11 and two weeks.
Going to Houston consulate on Monday. Anyone recommend wearing an Argentina jersey at the appointment? Or is that a bad idea?
The Atlanta consulate website says they require the official tickets or certificate. I think I read that they changed to this requirement recently. By the way, has anyone received tickets in the mail yet?
I was successful with atl and some of my friends sent them there this past week after hearing I got approved. Just the other day the atl site changed their requirements to in person only and requiring certificates. Will let you all know what happens with their visas.
haha that would be lovely lol. keep me updated on how it goes, I'm hoping to get my passport this week and hopefully go to houston on friday.
I wanted to confirm that if I go to my consulate in person there is no charge compared to using a service like Travisa. Sorry for the dumb question.
