The actual strange part is only 23,000 sold. Nobody wants to go to Fedex. The Salvadorean supporters know the tickets are expensive, parking is a ripoff, and their team is gonna get hammered. And they can wait for the other six friendlies their team will play in DC at RFK this year alone. But this is a game with the best team in the world for the last decade. Still no one wants to go!
I don't know that no one does it anymore. No, I literally have no idea. But I do remember hearing last year of a couple weird double-headers. Don't get me wrong. I think you're right about it being silly and I've never really thought that it was an effective idea. I would also get rid of the in-season friendlies, particularly against the less well-known or popular teams that aren't really even going to result in a big payday. I digress. Stupid? Yes. Are we unique in still doing it? I would be somewhat surprised.
If this had been at RFK and it didn't impact my regular seats, fine. But I have no interest in this double-header, given the inconvenience factor.
Obviously they don't care about the MLS match, but I wonder how many tickets SUM wanted sold for the match.
As noted earlier, this idea was from somebody who has NO history with soccer in the DC area, and specifically with DC United games at FedEx and with no realization of how bad the lines of sight are in FedEx for soccer. They blithely assumed that EVERY DC United fan and EVERY soccer fan from El Salvador and Spain would have an orgasm in being able to see soccer at the local NFL stadium. We all know this isn't true, but the new owners and the management group they set in place don't. Its not really insulting, it just a display of ignorance and stupidity.
Another have a beer on us promotion this week. I think I need to keep track of all of the weekly promotions they are offering this year, and compare to the benefits of being a season ticket holder.
If there's a ticket plus a nice shiny cardboard box (tho this year it was matte) promotion in the future, I'm totally done being a STH.
There's really no benefit to it For real funny one you should see District Ultras season tickets, it comes to about 26.75 (since you have to pay shipping) and we sell game by game tickets for $24 lol Yet somehow we ended up with way more season ticket holders than last year.. reverse psychology?
Step one: Cut a hole in the box Step two: put your junk in the box Step three: make her open the box And that's the way you do it. James
This isn't anything new. I remember some years back when the salesperson was incredulous that I would change tickets to a game including some European super-club for a US Open cup game.

This has been known for over a month btw (they just sent it bit late). Well except few people not on facebook like you
