Just thinking Khedira playing the role of a 6 shared with lahm and taking on fb duties. Remember Khedira playing as a fb in one of the tournaments games for the last 20 minutes or so. Can't remember what game it was.

Playing for a short amount of time is totally different than starting there. I don't think his game is such where he can. I mean he is disciplined but Grosskreutz is a superior option and it would limit what Khedira is really good at.

Gomez & Klose both out for WC?

Its for the best if Klose doesn't go. Gomez I'd rather take than not.

May 13th Germany will have a friendly match VS Poland

Interesting thing is DFB Pokal Finale is on 17th May. So players from Dortmund and Bayern Munich will not participate in that friendly match

Who's left for that friendly? We are still experimenting many tactics n options(Grosskreutz, Durm, False9...) It certainly isn't helping

    Some injuries issue as well

    My squad:

    GK) ter Stegen, Adler

DF) Jung, Marcell Jansen, Beck, Mertesacker, Howedes, Ginter, Mustafi

MF) Lars Bender, Khedira, Oezil, Hahn, Herrmann(?), Neustaedter, Draxler, Schuerrle

    FW) Gomez, Volland/Lasogga(Back yet?)

Oops, HSV may be playing in the relegation playoff; Schuerrle also won't be available if Chelsea make it to the CL final.

    GK) ter Stegen, Zieler

DF) Jung, Beck, Ostrzolek, Ginter, Mertesacker, Mustafi, Howedes

MF) Khedira, Lars Bender, Neustaedter, Hahn, Oezil, Schuerrle(CL Final?), Draxler, Podolski, Sam

    FW) Kruse, Volland, Gomez

Good. An opportunity to experiment with players on the roster bubble, this'd be my squad:
    GK: Fährmann, ter Stegen, Ulreich
    RB: Jung, Höwedes (?)
CB: Mertesacker, Gïnter, Knoche, Höwedes (?)
    LB: Jansen (?), Plattenhardt
CM: L. Bender, Khedira (?), Geis, Rudy
    RW: Sam, N. Müller
    CAM: Özil, Draxler
    LW: Schürrle (?), Volland
    CF: Gomez, Lasogga (?)

If all questionable players are out:
    GK: Fährmann, ter Stegen, Ulreich
    RB: Jung, Korb
    CB: Mertesacker, Gïnter, Knoche, Mustafi
    LB: Plattenhardt, Korb
CM: L. Bender, Neustädter, Geis, Rudy
    RW: Sam, N. Müller
    CAM: Özil, Arnold
    LW: Volland, Draxler
    CF: Gomez, Kruse

Mertesacker, Podolski and Özil are out because of the FA Cup Final - and Khedira, Gomez and Klose are out because of the last matchday in Spain and Italy...

So of your suggestions only the following are left:

    GK) ter Stegen, Zieler

DF) Jung, Beck, Ostrzolek, Ginter, Mustafi, Howedes

MF) Lars Bender, Neustaedter, Hahn, Schuerrle(CL Final?), Draxler, Sam

    FW) Kruse, Volland

sport1.de claimed Jantschke, Ostrzolek and Hermann also have their chances. As well as Max Meyer, Goretzka, Knoche, Timo Werner and Volland.

    That will be insane

Apparently he's an Augsburg LB of Polish-German dual nationality. Probably a "cap-and-watch" player that would get his cap and then not be really on the radar unless he showcases serious talent.

My friends ... the issue on the CF, striker or even "False 9" in Die Mannschaft has a solution ... and are just two words: MARCO REUS.

    Neither more nor less.

My concern with our NT playing Lahm at DM, is like what we saw from Bayern todays game

Rafinha exposed too much space at RB n clearly the weakest link and gave up too much possession to Crstiano Ronaldo.

I am not saying Grosskreutz is worse than Rafinha but i think in our case, we need Lahm at the fullback.

Ronaldo was actually pretty quiet, as was Bale. Benzema caused problems though.

You just knew he had that narrative made and ready to go after the match regardless of what actually happened.

    Yup.

I'm ready to ditch this board btw. It got insane very quickly. There are maybe two or three posters worth talking to.

That's unfortunate. Please don't. You add a lot of unique perspective. I'd understand if you do, though.

At least the Lahm at DM thing is not as invincible as some may have thought.

fullbacks are still important for certain roles in defense.

And i found it interesting that @SirManchester thinks Durm n Grosskreutz are good enough to start for NT in World Cup while Kiessling is "not NT material"

The bigger story was how once again, Mr Midfield General failed to get a grip on the tempo of the game
