Given 30 days, it's likely, but grass color is no guarantee that the sod has rooted/anchored. Water & soil/grass amendments can keep cut sod green.
I know it probably won't during the summer, but will there be football lines on the field once school starts again?
McGuinness first game will be Sept 5th so its up to the school when they put down the Football lines they may wait after Energy plays its regular season game to put down the football lines.
Whatever, this is the school's stadiam.... At least HS gridball only paints the minimum lines on grass. Yes, we understand that SSS are scarce in OKC
Well, the Energy's last home game is the 24th of August, so should be enough time for the first BM game to put down the appropriate markings. Might have them there if we make it to the playoffs, but at least for most of the season, we shouldn't have them. Not sure if serious, lol.
With the weather we are supposed to be getting this weekend does anybody know if this game might be canceled or if the the school might have a shelter or what not?
I am a McGuinness Alumni and McGuinness do have a basement in the school and what i am being told by Energy is that they do have a plan ready to go on Saturday just incase of Severe weather. What i am thinking is if it just a normal Severe Thunderstorm they may move us to the GYM and have us in there until the storm is past but if there is a tornado with the storm they could have us move to the school
If the McGuinness basement is like any of the other basements of the same school building era around Oklahoma, then the basement is where they will find the bodies after the building collapses into it following a moderate strength tornado. It should be criminal how woefully unprepared Oklahoma (public & private) schools are with regard to storm shelters, not just in light of last year, but the storms dating back until 1999. At this point, the State is asking for Architect's & Engineers to "volunteer", without any liability protection, to evaluate existing school buildings for the Best Available Refuge Areas (BARA) in the event of a tornado. Unless the schools have purpose built shelters from the last 15 or so years or fallout shelters from the 50's, we're just counting the days until another bunch of dead kids
That doesn't necessarily mean the basement was designed as a shelter. BMHS has enough money that it should have been, but until that becomes a requirement in 2015, that's not a guarantee.

Funk & McLaughlin were in KC last night for the match against Manchester City. Hopefully they were taking notes for a future stadium. They even had time to take a picture with some hipster.
MAPS IV (2017) will be the best alternative for Funks/McLaughlin to partner with the City of OKC to get a quality MLS ready stadium constructed on the Oklahoma Riverfront.
Sadly I don't think it wil be included in the maps IV project unless the NASL team closes for good. The Mayor and city council won't choose sides plus the Thunder might actually campaign against it as they want to be the only game in town
Agree! MAPS IV may not include any soccer/football stadium referendum. http://newsok.com/article/5442406 It's rumored that Prodigal will invest $6 million into this state-of-the-art training facility. Sacramento's 11,442-seat Bonney Field was constructed at a cost of $3 million. The Funks made a major investment in a multimillion dollar training facility which leads me to believe that they are looking at the recent numbers generated by Energy FC. A 7,000-seat stadium which will allow them to expand to 20,000-seats does put them on a timeline for bringing an MLS expansion/relocation franchise to OKC post 2020. It's not as far-fetched of an idea given these recent investment by Prodigal LLC. IMO, the Thunder aren't concerned about soccer's infiltration into the OKC market; they have 209 consecutive sellouts of 18,203 dating back to 2010.
Laramie, what's your opinion about that? They built a training facility for roughly twice what it would seemingly cost to build an 11,000 seat stadium of their own?
The training facility was built in partnership with the Oklahoma City County Health Department an Blue Cross Blue Shield so the Energy didn't pay for all of it. However, it is rare for a club at the D3 level to have such a training facility of this kind. Also keep in mind that the Energy paid for the renovations at Pribil Stadium and are still paying for the yet to be finished renovations at Taft Stadium
It's nothing more than speculation, but Steve Lackmeyer (the Oklahoman's beat reporter for downtown happenings) said last week that he thinks the cotton co-op property, which is set to go on the market in the near future, would be a great location for an MLS-sized soccer stadium. He also said he thought the Energy ownership group was keen on exploring that option. The co-op is immediately south of Bricktown and east of the the newly announced convention center location. I think that would be sweet if it comes to pass, although I still have my doubts that we can land an MLS franchise with so many cities seemingly in front of us.
