Tardelli of course was a famed Italian midfield maestro and so far has had a less than formidable career as a coach, still recovering his reputation after a notoriously bad spell with Inter. What were the lasting impressions he left amongst Irish fans?
He seemed to be quite well regarded by supporters and players. Never seemed afraid of telling Trapattoni what he thought - one of my abiding memories is of he and Trap roaring at one another on the touchline. That said, there were rumours that he had a physical altercation, or at least a very heated argument, with a member of the squad after Euro 2012. Things went downhill pretty fast for he and Trap after that, though nothing was ever confirmed.
