How is it mispronounced? The Wiki pronunciation has it laid out as I've always heard it, with a long o sound.

EDIT: Or is the "r" rolled or something? I don't speak any German so I have no idea.

Disagree. It's a great position for them. They can do exactly what they did today: soak up pressure, counter. If they score one suddenly Bayern have to score 3.

It is a long O sound - but its not rhyming with Glenn Close or Goose or any of the other versions that get used

    Compare this @ 11s

    with this @31s / 5.28

Still - it least it is not as bad as the butchering of Gnabry :D

I've started to become aware that the English cannot pronounce any foreign name correctly. They butcher Martinez, took about 3 years to come to a decision on Rosicky (which I'm still not sure is correct) and seem to be convinced they're saying Gnabry correctly. It's Nay-Bree, right?

Gnabry is pronounced the same as the german word knocken

You do pronouce the K but you don't add in extra letters to make it ker-nocken - its k-nocken

You see the same with Mkhitaryan

    it is m-khi not mikhi

    No extra i in there.

I think in America, we try too hard to make sure all names are being pronounced the same way they would in their native tongue and English announcers simply cannot pronounce most names correctly (e.g.- it's not Ha vee eh, is Ha vee air, and it's not Mar ten nez it's Mar tee nez).

This is true for any foreigner when English commentators are involved. Arshavin played for Arsenal for what, 3 and a half years? And announcers never got it right, despite just needing to put the emphasis on the middle syllable. If you speak a foreign language, English announcers are the worst.

Why would Germans have any special expertise in pronouncing an Ivorian last name?

Who cares? Why expect announcers to pronounce people's names as if they were a native speaker? Leave that shit for Alex Trebek.

I thought the Jose was correct. Don't the Portugese and the Spanish pronounce that differently?

There are English commentators that still can't say "Rosicky."

Guardiola football. Turned a German efficient machine into a flabby and sick version of Barcelona. And no one says anything. Must be nice to be Pep.

He probably sits back like this after each pass behind the center circle:

Arlo is good. His voice makes women wet. He good, and I dont get the hate of him on here. He started out doing radio for the Beeb then moved to Seattle about 5 years ago.

Bayern reminded me of Arsenal of recent years. All possession and little or no end product. Actually tbf we've been quite a bit better many times in the last year or so, compared to bayern of today. And often this year we've foregone dominant possession. But still you know what i mean.

Bayern are in poor form right now. It's like FM playing out in real life: your team wins the league in March and then the game says "******** you you aren't winning another match" and you have to grind out results against bottom-dwellers.

I actually think the Mourinho pronunciation is largely correct, but the Martinez one has always been utterly bizarre. For a year I thought he was actually English, albeit with a foreign name (like LeSaux), before I heard him speak. I can't recall Javi Martinez pronounced the same way by English announcers, so they know how to do it properly; it's just weird.
The English really are the worst at this though - I once had a surprisingly acrimonious work argument in London about the typical English mispronunciation of the word pasta - nearly every single person I knew pronounced it like the word "past" with an "a" added to it, and were angrily certain it was correct.

Trying to remember more and came up with the occasional "Sag-na" with a hard G. Ouch. Also the insistence on pronouncing the h in herb.

    ...transition...

I'm starting to hate Pep. Tiki-taka and Mourinho's successes are killing attacking football. Ancelotti did a great job setting up to hit Bayern on the break. Their speed from defense to offense was breathtaking. I'm hoping for an all Madrid final, mostly because it won't have Pep or Jose.
