Cubo torres is on loan he gets paid more money - He is a great striker with alot of upside - downside is that most likely he will be recalled by Chivas Guadalajara unless Chivas USA wants to buy him outright which seems unlikely for the price they'll want. Emanuel Villa however I have been mentioning for years! He is not even that expensive anymore and its a free transfer!!
Not only that, can't really compare how they were developed. Wondo made a grand total of 11 starts for the Dynamo over 4 years. He wasn't getting playing time. Bruin is in his 3rd season as the full-time starter and logged a lot of minutes in his first season as well.
Hahaha! I had forgotten about that. Bruin's lady went to his defense on lack of goal scoring. On twitter no less! Some of these MLS guys are on the hook for having huge androgyny moments now and then.
I remember a canadian blog that had some salary #s for various South American leagues, including the top players over the years. They pretty much showed that even the top scorer from Paraguay, Bolivia, etc can be had for $200K-$300K/yr. I'm curious if you know if those numbers are right? And if so...why isn't MLS trying to grab these guys?
That # isn't too far off from what I've seen. The thing is the really good ones are waiting for a La Liga team to call, the second tier ones are waiting for Puebla or Veracruz to call so that they can move to Mexico score lots of goals and get high 6 figures from an America, Cruz Azul or Tigres.
Couldn't MLS be an inbetween for these guys? Make some extra cash in the US while waiting for LaLiga/WhatevertheMFLiscalledthesedays to call? MLS should at least be pushing for that. Granted they've done a better job lately of getting guys from Colombia but there has to be more out there....
if Bruin is ever compared in a positive way to Ching again on this board I will sacrifice baby rabbits to ensure that darkness is cast upon your soul. you have been warned.....
DManiac, Nice writing examples. I really try to support anybody who writes or talks about the Dynamo, but particularly those who have the guts to let the organization know that they need to continuously upgrade, keep up with the rest of MLS, replenish with good players, etc etc. As a fan, i wont tolerate it if i feel that the Dynamo has taken me for granted. As a fan, i wont read or listen to people who simply kiss up to the Dynamo organization. As fas as self promotion, i would suggest that you do more. Open a new thread exclusively intended to advertise your work, add a link to your signature, etc. You should also bring up your blogs in casual posting, although that is probably not subtle enough... Just dont become somebody like that @The_Ponce guy, who once he started writing his own blogs, he became too important to come here and post his stuff.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Like I said, always reluctant to promote. Just want to be "one of the guys", not someone with an agenda. That said, if nobody is offended then a separate thread is probably a safe idea - keeps those posts isolated in a thread that people can enter or not as they choose with normal discussion in everything else. As for The_Ponce, I am always honored just to be in his presence. He's a good guy, we love him!
As an apology, I'll send you an autographed 8x10. Please forward me your address, @Hydro. I'll be back. I've just gotten busy with work. I need to support my Dynamo and Dash addiction. Haha.
I see all these people writing blog posts and articles and podcasts and I think . . . . . I should have my own TV show
I wouldn't only watch, I would pay good money to do so. In fact, consider this an official invitation to join us on our next podcast. I won't even censor you, Westside!* *FCC rules do not apply to us.
I miss donjuego. Had some posting sparrings with him (Home field advantage) but he watched the game analytically and had solid observations. Although most won't believe it, I respect the opinions of others when it comes to soccer when they put thought into it, even if I disagree.
