Oh boy! We're back to grammar! If we really want to make georg nervous to post anything casually again, let's discuss his appalling lack of punctuation in the rest of the sentence. You could punctuate it several ways that would be serviceable, but I think the following has the most elegant flair: Which came first--the chicken or the egg? The -- represents an em dash, which my smart phone keyboard has unkindly not provided. You could replace the em dash with a colon and still be in very good taste I think, but I prefer to reserve the colon for a longer list of items. A comma might be acceptable, but certainly lacking sophistication. You could break it into two sentences completely, producing a very readable phrase, but sentence fragments are so unfortunate and, in this case, so avoidable. Shall we continue? Or would we like to continue the threadjacking by dissecting my grammar choices in this post? We could you know talk about soccer and stuff if you wanted--?#.
Holy crap the smart phone app is annoying. I meant to edit to add a word, created a new post, and now can't delete. Arrrrggghhh
Have you ever discussed the grocers apostrophe and how to distinguish between the greengrocer's apostrophe (singular possessive) and the greengrocer's apostrophe (plural) and the common possible mis-use greengrocer's (noun) Have fun Love Alan
I've never heard it called the greengrocer's apostrophe, but I love it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greengrocer's_apostrophe#Greengrocers.27_apostrophes
Which smartphone are you using? If it is an iPhone, press and hold the hyphen button and three additional options will appear, one of which is the em dash. Not sure if Android phones have the same options.
It depends on which keyboard you use in android, but the standard Google keyboard you can long press the period for more punctuation options, or on the bottom left there's a ?123 button that will swap from letters to numbers/symbols.
