Transistor is coming out NEXT MONTH!! May 20th to be exact. [QUOTESupergiant Games' Transistor will launch for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC on May 20, the developers announced today on the game's blog.][/QUOTE] link Anyone lucky enough to be going to PAX East this weekend?
Looking forward to Transistor. But now... after today's announcement at PAX something I have a new most anticipated game of 2014: Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth. Alpha Centauri was a great game, some consider it better than any of the Civs. Regardless, this is pretty exciting, I hope it holds up half as well as that one did as a standalone Civ type experience.
Alpha Centauri never really interested me when it came out but definitely gonna keep an eye on this one. I've been really enjoying Trials Fusion but totally bummed out there is no online multiplayer.
I have high hopes for this. It's about time that an Alien game managed to capture the dread and isolation of the original movie. The Dead Space series did this better than any of the Alien(s) games.
Lets just hope it turns out to be a good game, unlike the atrocity that was Aliean: Colonial Marines. As an Alien fan, I want good atmosphere, sound and tension. If one is absent, it ruins the experience. I dont want it to be just a video game, but an immersive experience. Which is why Dead Space, when it came out, was such a treat. The sound and lighting in Dead Space was so convincing, which is why its one of my favorite games of all time. Dead Space was pure perfection in all areas. Well at least the 1st and 2nd one (but especially the first) The 3rd Dead Space was an atrocity as well. Watching that trailer, it does seem that this is going to be an immersive experience and entirely different from previous Alien games
The first game is the very best. The second one was still very good. I still enjoyed the third one, mostly because the ice planet was a classic horror locale.
It was still a good video game, but the experience wasnt the same. Not for me anyway. The locale was good, but what ruined it for me was the cheesy dialogue and characters, lame love triangle among other things.
True, only the first one was truly brilliant from start to finish, with a story that perfectly matched the atmosphere.
It really sucks that all RPGs seem to go the MMO route. What about those of us who haven't got the time to spend hundreds of hours on a single game?
I've been reading a lot about this game, especially how they're really tweaking the xenomorph's AI a ton. If it hears you, it seeks you out, to the point where it'll open up lockers, look around/above objects, etc. If it sees you, you're pretty much dead.
Wow the lighting looks damn awesome! Even for a youtube video. Hard to judge sound without playing yourself with a pair of headphones, but if they can nail the sound in this game and manage to build up tension, then it may just overtake Dead Space for me, in the survival horror genre. Mainly because Im a huge Alien fan and my bias towards Alien.
It also uses some sort of progressive AI that will give the player the impression that the xenomorph gets slowly better at detecting/finding them.
Yeah that is definately a legitimate concern. I can imagine that this game has been a huge design challenge. But it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Im definately more stoked for it now
