What happened to Chivas?? At one point they were the big surprise of the libertadores playing with a primarily yong team and making it to the final, right?

Next tournament decides the first two spots. Cup winners Tigres and Morelia will face each other for the third spot.

You think Gullit could have elevated his level in the olympics? Based on what? Based on his great track record of elevating his game against international sides better than New Zealand?

Because the Chepo factor affected EVERYONE.

Great, so you're using the Costa Rica game to argue Gullit's case when he was mediocre in the Gold Cup overall. Overrated to the max.

I started rooting for them towards the end of this game, didn't want to have to travel so far during liguilla

Regardless, we'll still pull thru to semis

Leon lost this series in the first leg. You can't allow a shitty Bolivian club score 2 in your home. They only have themselves to blame for this.

I seriously doubt Santos wins tomorrow, but if they do they will most likely get eliminated by Bolivar in the next round.

Mexico should send their best three teams (Cruz Azul, Toluca and Santos) to the Libertadores, and the next four (America, Pumas, Leon* and Xolos) to the Concachafa. Only way to make the deep runs from back in the day. And I bet the Concachafa final would be Leon vs. America or something like that. Truth is, in CONCACAF, a mid-table Liga MX club is still formidable, and at worst even with the best MLS teams (RSL & Kansas right now).

    ---
    * Yes, Leon is low in the table, but that's because they were trying to go far in the Libertadores and they didn't have the depth for two tournaments IMO.

Cant be too much, this team was in the Ascenso just two and half years ago and they still have most of their core base from their time there.

And for everyone thinking Santos is going to run dry at home, come off of it - their not playing some shit MLS team who shit the bed when they travel to another country.

Bolivar plays the counter so well when playing away they try to get a quick goal or two and sit back if they have too. Them going home with an away goal is a huge advantage because they let the opposing team tire out when playing them at home with the altitude advantage. Leon had useless possession last night Bolivar was happy to give them the ball because they would quickly stuff the middle and shut down the flanks. Not once in the second half did I see Leon try a mid range shot to open up the defense
