Some good points, but I love this: "...Eyewitness News found out that's not the case in Atlanta, where a new MLS team will play on the same field as the Atlanta Falcons." I have this vision of some 'investigative team' going through the garbage at MLS HQ to discover some crumpled slip of paper revealing what the rest of the world has known for the last few weeks.
I suspect the answer is "Arthur Blank is spending more to make his stadium adjust to our demands, than you will be spending on your stadium in total."

Holy blindsides, Batman! Rimando is about to set a new MLS shutout record. Why is this not reported more widely?
Nah, everyone just figures that since he's a Salt Lake player he'll end up in second place on the list. (Not a rivalry dig, an inside joke from the Salt Lake forum)
"Edwards has an issue with Major League Soccer because it just awarded a franchise team to Atlanta and the team will play in the Falcons' new $1 billion stadium. In Orlando, a new soccer-specific stadium was required and playing at the renovated Citrus Bowl was not an option for the new team. "They can't tell us this is the only way we can do it if they're not going to do it in other cities," Edwards said." AND "'They were not transparent, apparently not honest with our community," Edward said" I don't know how the negotiations went down, but I can certainly see how, to many, it looks like Orlando's quest for a team had a different set of requirements regarding a playing facility than Atlanta.
Did the Citrus Bowl renovation include "state of the art" downsizing technology? Cause that would likely be the league's counterargument (aside from that whole "controlling revenue streams" thing)- for what it's worth.
An important point elsewhere by @When Saturday Comes This "controversy" is just posturing, and actually pretty stupid posturing at that. At any rate, MLS can come back and say we considered the Citrus Bowl and so did you. A new stadium was the cheaper option.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...quirement-questioned-20140422,0,5693181.story Orlando Mayor Teresa Jacobs replied by saying that the county decided that converting Citrus Bowl was too expensive. Edwards is flat out lying.
Is there any info out there listing who will be the recipient(s) of any ancillary revenue arising from the new Orlando stadium? I am aware the city will own the stadium.
Because it did. The way this Atlanta move was done, allowing for the reKraftification of MLS, is going to have some interesting [and unhappy] blowback.
Are you sure it is Edwards who is doing the lying? Which ones' position is closer to the language MLS was using for expansion teams during Orlando's application? Think about it.
yes just like kraft despite the fact is has the stadium is being made to downsize and arthur blank has showed more passion for the team then robert Kraft ever has shown.
Edwards voted against the stadium deal, he knew about the added cost to the renovations of Citrus. Haters are going to hate.
Watch what happens. We have a Blank slate on Blank's "passion" for the game. There is nothing there from his past. On the other hand, he has every opportunity to prove it.
