Did the local networks still get the broadcast the game? Was the local broadcast blacked out? Or was the Nationalk Broadcast blacked out in those markets?
In the New York market I got a choice of watching the game on YES (Yankees' coverage) or FS1. Neither was blacked out.
Cool thanks. Assuming most fans in the local markets would probably watch on their normal channels (half the fun of baseball is the homer announcers) but still to get the same rating as Red Sox-Yanks under any circumstances is impressive.

NBCUniversal plans to air ten different Premier League games through twelve networks on May 11th (they'll call it "Championship Sunday" on this day), according to Bloguin (an affiliate to Awful Announcing). MLS and NBCSN should have switched this game...This is where flexibility within the schedule is a must for National Games. More than likely, we are going to end-up with less than 100k viewers for that game. Great numbers for Chelsea game on NBC. We could see almost 1 million viewer for that game for NBC. Great numbers for Sunday's EPL match on NBCSN. This means another 700k+ viewers is in cards for that game.

ESPN FC: last week's ESPNFC scored 181K on Wednesday on ESPN2. ESPNews also repeats these shows. It ranged from 32k to around 15k with repeats. ESPN's Hillsborough Soccer documentary scored around 530K on Tuesday, and the repeat on Sunday pulled almost 150K viewers (no numbers for the Monday repeat on ESPN2)...

The challenge for NBC is what to do when you have no control over the time slots of the games. Everything is determined by SKY, BT and the police so the best games are at crap times for the American audience. Liverpool-City, and Liverpool-Chelsea would have been huge if they had been the 930 time slot.
