UNITED SEND THREE TO RICHMOND: D.C. United and the Richmond Kickers announced Thursday the first three players to report to the USL PRO side as part of the teams' extended partnership. Goalkeeper Joe Willis, midfielder Collin Martin and forward Christiano Francois will be sent to Richmond and are expected to report ahead of the Kickers’ match Saturday against the University of Maryland. The three will then return to D.C. United next week, ahead of their season opener March 8 at home against the Columbus Crew (7 pm, MLS Live). Willis is entering his third season with United and has played in 23 matches for the Black and Red, making 71 saves, including a memorable penalty kick save against the New York Red Bulls in the 2012 MLS Cup playoffs. Martin was United’s sixth Homegrown signing, joining the team midway through last season after playing one year at Wake Forest University. Francois, who played last season at Maryland, signed on with D.C. this offseason. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...e-rejoins-chicago-fire-camp-paul-mariner-retu
Richmond Kickers and Richmond Strikers to combine Development Academies; new program will be called Richmond United The Richmond Kickers announced today that they will be merging their US Soccer Development Academy with the Richmond Strikers, creating one Development Academy for central Virginia and ending years of amicable conflict between the two. This deal has been rumored for over a year, and the consummation of it will create a new Development Academy, properly named Richmond United. Since the academies are now year-round this merger will take place for the start of the 2014-2015 season. The Richmond United academy will remain cost-free, which the Kickers academy has been for the past year (and which D.C. United's academy is not). There will also be a U-23 team, but its league affiliation, if any, is not yet known. All in all, this deal makes sense. It leaves one US Soccer Development Academy for the Richmond, where the previous two were overkill for the area's population base. It leaves two USSDAs for Virginia, with the other being in Virginia Beach, and two in the Greater D.C. area that can also service Northern Virginia. It also makes sense from the viewpoint of developing the best players from this region, allowing them all to practice together and to play against other high-quality opposition. http://www.reddit.com/tb/1ro9f4 http://www.richmondkickers.com/home/772654.html
You do realize this is the Custom Service forum... there is a Richmond Kickers USL thread here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/official-richmond-kickers-2014-thread.1903748/
He doesn't seem to read anything not posted by him. Let's see what happens if he gets a notice that he's been quoted... and "at signed": Hey, @EPJr there's already a thread for this stuff. Who knows, post in it and you might actually generate a discussion.
There is a Kickers thread there, the link to which I posted 2 posts above! THIS IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FORUM!!
I still do not see a link on USL to Richmond; it should be between Phoenix and Rochester but there is nothing there that I can see and never have
Hands down, one of the dumbest threads I've been involved with since Whitestar was banned. Is that you Erik?
I have been told we will need to specifically request that we want the BS mods to bump up the Richmond Kickers to the top of the page listed in the USL Forum along with all of the other inidividual teams.
There's also kickers discussion in the DC thread. Some of us will wander over to see what's going on with the affiliate.
Not sure what the overall demand is, but I'd personally be interested in having a dedicated Kickers section.
