Well the Brazil team during that run wasn't the one it is this year. Don't think it matters who they played. They were constantly playing top opposition but for what its worth I think they would have beaten the Argentina and Brazil sides in that timeframe easily in competitive matches.
Without question. He's the perfect internet troll. No smarts but all aggression filtered through an impressive amount of ignorance. A mental patient outside this board, surely.
Must be truly fulfilling to do a "fantastic job" at making statements so inane and lacking in any sort of insight, nuance, or intelligence that they make people angry.
Call me back when Spain goes on a run from 1934 to the present day never finishing worse than the quarter finals in a WC. Spain as the best NT ever. Brazil and Germany laugh at your measily 4 years of consistency.
This is a foolish response. We are talking about one team with largely the same players (core) winning how much they did, and how dominant they were. You are more than welcome to make a case for any Germany or Brazil side now. And 2007-2012 is five years.
80 years of t0p 8 finishes, including 7 finals is a much bigger statement than simply being the best team over a five year period. Not to mention Germany's record in the EC.
Wow. This'll go down in history; the day I actually agreed with heynckes' hanging leftnut. The apocalypse is near, I presume.
Regardless, that was over a period of multiple generations of players. I was under the presumption that when we spoke of Spain being the best team, we spoke of "team" as meaning a continuous run by the same generation of players. Not over multiple generations, or sets of players.
Did our Spanish fanboys miss the Brazilian team from 58-70 that was also largely intact as it rolled up three titles?
Hmmm, not really. From 66 to 70 there were a few additions and omissions from 66, but the majority of the squad was still the same. Very similar to Spain's roster changes. When you look from 1970-76 it was pretty much the same German side, again very much like Spain.
Dude...i said from 66 to 76. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1966_FIFA_World_Cup_squads#.C2.A0West_Germany http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_1976_squads#.C2.A0West_Germany It's bigger than i thought. Only TWO players - Maier and Beckenbauer.
