A big fella to stick up front y'mean... hmm... maybe.

I think we're talking about desperation measures though, aren't we? Y'know, if we're behind and we need a 'big unit' up top to sling the ball in towards and try and get knock-downs.

My idea would be Lambert for that role, tbh.

My idea would be to leave 'em both in England...

Lambert is much more than a target man. You only have to look at some of the passes he's played for Southamptont this season to see that.

He's also never missed a penalty in 34 attempts for Southampton.

I agree. He's far better with and without the ball than Carroll and, for that matter, Crouch.

Well, that's why I said, 'for that role'. There's a question mark over whether we need a fella of that type at all.

If we go behind and are chasing the game, a guy with some speed who can be a danger on his own, (like Welbeck), would probably be the way to go.

Well, he's playing in a side that;s playing poorly and that's ALWAYS hard.

BTW, is that your real name, as a matter of interest?

Good to see Sterling belt one in from distance. Some who followed him a few years ago as a youth player will recall he had a very good shot. Interesting that Jamie Carragher when asked said he didn't realise he had it in "his locker" - quite the opposite in fact.

He needs to do that sort of thing more consistently now.

Would anyone agree that Sterling is now one of the best young players in Europe?

It's perhaps not as outlandish as it sounds on form, so long as you limit it to players 19 or under.

If you mean players under the age of 21 then yes I think he is up there same goes for Shaw as well IMO.

Jack Wilshere will be ready to go or "polished" according to Wenger, for the World Cup. Good news surly.

Well Arsenal don't have a very good rep when it comes to saying when there players are coming back from injuries, so as far as JW is concerned I will believe he is fit and ready when I see him running around in an Arsenal shirt

The lad needs to get his head right. He hasn't developed over the past year or so, if anything he's arguably regressed. He's trying stupid things, making bad decisions and has looked a shadow of the kid who used to retain possession so easily. He needs to accept that he's not going to be the reincarnation of Stevie-G and embrace the holding role, because it's realistically the only one he's going to excel in.

He was never going to be the next Steven Gerrard with the body he was given. I've heard many comparisons with him being the next Gazza, which is accurate given their playing style. One of his best performances of his career was against Brazil in Feb of 2013. Master class performance for a lad of his age against an opponent that great. Ever since it has been going down hill for him. I knew he wasn't thinking right when he said "I need to score goals." He doesn't need to. He is great at creating instead of finishing. I think he wants to be a flashy player, but what he is best at is not considered flashy like the holding role.

Watching interviews of players throughout the squad it seems like they are very excited about Brazil and overall getting along with each other. This is a great step forward compared to South Africa when Capello installed a boot camp mentality. Roy has always been a good tournament manager as well. It is always great when you don't have to worry about others not getting along with each other i.e. France. No loose cannons i.e. Balotelli.

You can tell that the players REALLY want to go to Brazil maybe just to go to Brazil (what happens in Brazil stays in Brazil). However the experience they had last summer was very helpful.
