I think his only real question mark is pace/age. There were/are questions on whether he can keep up over 90 mins. I'd like to assume the Quakes have vetted that aspect of his game. Otherwise, he's got a killer right foot and is very good in attack. All in all, Gorlitz + Barklage will end up costing less than Beita which helps some of the Quakes' depth issues. However, god help us if Stewart goes down...

At 32/33 years of age playing oon defense is not that old. I mean his experience (on paper anyway) should amount for something.

Gotta disagree with Ashe, Sinovic, Segares--especially Ashe and Segares, who I have seen play many times. Klute definitely has wheels--but so does Stewart. I haven't seen Klute much, but I don't recall him beating people 1 v 1. Harrington has blossomed at Portland and definitely gets forward (like Stewart), but I would take Stewart's defending over Harrington's.

preview of tuesday match from mls.com

"…..However, only Pierazzi is likely to see a start against Toluca, as Görlitz is working his way back from a preseason injury and Djaló’s paperwork is unlikely to clear in time for him to feature in the game.

One thing I must admit, even at a second tier level or b rated players, its nice to see Europeans on the Quakes for a change.

They have enough now, they could maybe play "Euro" poker or something - try to get rid of that useless currency while in the states. Stewart, Gorlitz, Djalo, and Pierazzi. Or maybe play a game of "Euro" Risk, where each player gets to start out with some "armies" on his home country, and spread others out to other Euro countries (could get a little testy between Gorlitz and Pierazzi).

His play against the Rapids seemed ok but it looked like he had a handball that wasn't call. Not sure if it was or not but it sure looked like one.

Either way and even though its only his first game, I was not that impressed with him. True about everyone against the CRapids.

Yeah well that is a given. He did ok but it wasn't anything that made me jump. Its only his first game though.

Even with a subdued performance, he was FAR better than Barkeledge or Cato this year.

Had a nice move down the wing against Chivas. Too bad he was tripped up and professionally fouled....

Based on his play in only 2 games, I'm going way out on a limb and predict that he will be at least as good as Beita and might be an upgrade (if he stays healthy). I do not remember Beita ever doing anything like that slick between the legs move to the inside after which the Chivas player pulled him down. His tackling also seems good. Quality of crosses remains to be seen.
