Yeah, they had a terrible start to the season. They lost their first 4 games and 8 out of their first 10 I believe. The fact that they're not already out of the hunt for promotion is pretty remarkable.
Morales started a recent friendly against Alianza Lima of Peru. http://historialblanquiazul.wordpress.com/2014/01/21/alianza-lima-2-fc-ingolstadt-04-3/
Why does Morales continue to get overlooked by Klinsmann? If Bobby Wood can get a call up playing in the 2nd Bundesliga, why can't Morales? He can play two positions well, and he is playing every week. With the depth problems at DM and the quality problems at RB, why hasn't Morales gotten a shot yet?
Depth problems at DM? Are you joking? Same with RB. Morales might be a good player, but he isn't better than our other options at those positions. I think he's been playing mostly RM to tell you the truth.
Morales has as many caps as Wood and more call-ups. He even got the full month of a Camp Cupcake to impress JK.
Do you think Beckerman is quality depth? I'd be willing to bet my house that Morales is better than Beckerman.
I'm with ussoccer on this, Morales is the better player. Their own peers made the comment that he is the most skilled player in camp.
Doubt that's true. He's not even playing DM for his own team - he's mostly playing right-mid or right-back.
From the kicker lineups, it looks like he is playing CM recently. Although he hasn't started all their games, he has played a lot. Of course this doesn't mean he's necessarily ahead of any other CMs in the US pool.
Morales starting at center-mid today in a 4-3-3: http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...minia-bielefeld-10_fc-ingolstadt-04-7659.html
I watched the first half, and he was playing as a right wing midfielder in a 4-4-2, mostly in an attacking role.
He looked OK. Both teams seemed more interested in kicking each other than the ball, so I gave up at half-time. Ingolstadt scored 2 in the second half, Morales not involved in the 2nd goal, which I just saw.
We will know soon enough what Klinsmann is thinking about Alfredo. He's received a call-up for camp and the Ukraine game. Lately he has been playing RM (and some RB and DM).
He's played right back in the past under Klinsmann. I think that and DM are the only two real spots he can play at at the international level.
Alfredo Morales set up the capper as Ingolstadt halted a four-game winless slide by blanking Bochum 3-0. The American capitalized quickly on a turnover to notch his second assist in March with 11 minutes left. The result lifted Ingolstadt two rungs to 11th, eight points above the relegation mire. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...-hot-everton-continue-charge-champions-league
Shutout last night: "One level below, Alfredo Morales went this distance in defensive midfield as Ingolstadt posted a 0-0 draw at Fortuna Düsseldorf." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...as-two-near-misses-fc-utrecht-edge-away-releg
Looks like Morales is rooting for both Germany and USA: https://twitter.com/alfredo1008 Alfredo Morales @alfredo1008 · Jun 16 Unbelievable game of Germany ! But now I'm cheering for the boys in natal! I wish you all the best… http://instagram.com/p/pUXkbKTHWu/
Still not cap-tied and still young enough to be a contender in CM next cycle as Beckerman and Jones declines over the next 2 years. His performance bossing Mexico in the U23 friendly in 2012 was top notch!
FC Ingolstadt started training on Monday the 23rd. The play their first friendly July 1st against SpVgg Unterhaching. During 2013/2014 he played in 32 league games (27 starts). He scored 1 goal, had 2 assists, picked up 5 yellow cards, and one red card. He also played in 2 DFB Pokal matches (starting 1). Ingolstadt finished in 10th in the 2. Bundesliga.
