It was an apparently an incredible uneventful game, a Sommerkick, as we call it. Two sides towards the end the season who are neither going up or down anymore just having a low intensity kick- about. I watched Konferenz, and the Augsburg- Hertha got about 5 minutes. Also. Poor Lustenberger .
For a DCM playing CB for a top team he is doing well, but he has been exposed more than once this season in the air.
Yes, he's not buried. He will play; I just wish he were starting on his own merit rather than due to injury. But Brooks has a great opportunity now.
Lustenberger is officially out for the season Brian Sciaretta @BrianSciaretta 2h Big opportunity for #usmnt CB John Anthony Brooks as Hertha CB Lustenberger out for the season. Door open for Brooks (via@Mathew_Wagner)
New article on Brooks that praises his performance versus Augsburg and Klinsmann being in contact with Hertha... @Hobo any important quotes for those that don't speak German? http://www.morgenpost.de/sport/hert...ch-bei-Hertha-nach-John-Brooks.html?cid=sport Also looks like Kicker awarded him with a 3.5...pretty good
The only quote is from Preetz: "That was a great game from John, if plays like that he'll be on the field every week" Otherwise the article reports how JK called Preetz to see what is going with JAB, why he wasn't he playing, and that JK thinks a lot of him and has him in mind for the WC. Hertha also thinks a lot of him but he needs to learn how to be a fully professional player, ie, don't get a full back tattoo during the season.
http://instagram.com/p/nGZlPTKGTh/ JAB ain't got shit on our boy Jermaine Jones! Guarantee he won't miss a training session or a match! Of course, I think JJ likes to endure pain as much as he like to inflict it.
Mathew Wagner @Mathew_Wagner 36m Brooks starts today for Hertha BSC against Eintracht Braunschweig. Match starts at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Rather boring game. Nothing much to report on. As I type, a Braunschweig player has a breakaway and is stuffed by the GK.
Goal for Brooks after Braunschweig fail to clear a corner (Yes, I switched to Konferenz. I've seen enough of those Nürnberg losers)
Nice! Brooks seems to have a bit of a nose for the ball during set pieces...he used to play striker growing up so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.
