who, besides an FA ashamed of a referee's id fail, could argue that a field player's hand save didn't merit red? he was really trying to prevent a goal kick so Arsenal would have a chance to counter from a corner

imo power football struggled more in not winning Euro 2012 or advancing a rep to the final than tiki taka did in winning Euro 2012

Your shitty English language comprehension aside, when do you see banners saying "blacks go home" like in Russia, or fans with megaphones saying "yes, black man, complain about racism, we're here to give you hell"?

So yeah, not as bad, accounting for the UK being less racist on average than Italy, Poland or Russia.

Though racism...hmm...is this why your country is a racial utopia? I guess Zimmerman can allude to that, eh?

You missed his point. Your thinking is very basic.

And lol at using George Weah from damn near 20 years ago as the counterpoint.

Dude....You got this so wrong it is not even funny. He has a very valid point and you have no arguments to refute it.
Yeah, Weah won 20 something years ago.... Great example.

Who ever wrote here that the US is a racial utopia? Evidently, you have not been around here that much. Otherwise, you will not have spouted that nonsense.

What is your interpretation of his point? Is he saying african players get fewer professional opportunities and have to work harder than their european and south american counterparts due to media bias? Maybe.. Is he saying that african players winning more awards would break down racial stereotypes? Ehhh.. stretching now. Scouts and managers want whats best for the club yeah? So they'll recruit and field the best players no matter where they are from right? There are scouts all over africa right now looking for the next yaya or drogba and i doubt yaya winning pfa would increase their enthusiasm any more.

Yaya is almost always mentioned in lists of top midfielders in the world. He is on the short list for PFA (which should clearly go to suarez). I think theres some truth to his statements but, bottom line, if he was putting up ronaldo, messi numbers, he would be more in the conversation of worlds best. Just my 2 cents.

I took as he saying African players are expected to do more while never getting the same attention and adulation. I don't think he meant anyone was racist, but African players have expectations that players from other parts of the world do not have.

I don't believe Yaya is the best example of this, but Eto'o probably is. He was either the 1,2, or 3rd best striker in the world for 4-5 years yet was never really appreciated. He even got ran out of Barcelona.

agreed. people seem to forget just how great of a career eto'o has had.

other than the fact that he is not the world's best player, i think toure's biggest issue is that man city haven't really won quite enough.

I can imagine that Yaya could be upset that he has played to an elite level for some time yet doesn't get the brand marketing opportunities that players like Rooney get - hence his face is not so well known.

I am not sure it is 100% accurate as black players like Henry also had huge exposure.

IMO if you are not a striker - you don't get the big glory

Agreed. I'm sure he's a massive draw in Africa from a marketing and branding perspective, but less so in the rest of the world, where he could be making more in endorsements.

You think he meant to exclude black players from europe in his comments?

I don't think we can assume that.

He is one of the highest paid players in the league - so I am not sure who he thinks is "not recognising" him

But what non strikers are big marketing stars?

Zidane is one I can think of, because he had the fantasy factor

You do get some big players domestically - e.g. Rio or Lahm

Pele and Eusebio were recognized because they were flashy talented strikers.

um, yeah. That is exactly what he meant and said. Did you read the comment?

And it was in response to what Nasri said about Yaya not being recognized because he is African. He specifically mentions African players like Eto'o and Drogba in his statement.

here is the entire interview, starting at 3:00 where he responses to Nasri's comment.
