England and France are the only two countries I know of that don't allow it. Third party ownership is still common throughout europe because so many clubs are completely broke.
Is that to say that if Monaco buys a player they have to pay enough to satisfy the third party, thus scrubbing that issue away? If so, you still have the problem that Monaco has thus overpaid for those players and will want more than they're worth if they are to sell.
Yeah, Monaco would have to own 100% under French rules. In theory, 3rd party owners aren't supposed to have any influence over club matters. So Monaco would go to the selling club, negotiate the fee, and pay them. They'd then be required to pay out 10% to agent A, 20% to bank B, etc. as their agreements provided. In practice, it's a murky world out there. Neymar and the Barcelona mess is just the latest example.
^But it definitely means we could buy Kondogbia without negotiating with anybody but Monaco. Not that I think we will buy Kondogbia or have any reason to think we are interested. I was just curious with regards to the assertion above that he was third party owned.
Ongoing, I think. We'll let you know after the World Cup. Who am I kidding? We'll let you know on September 1 at 12:01 am.
Yeah, what I meant to say is that Monaco probably paid the asking price + whatever the 3rd-party was owed. So for Arsenal to get him they'd probably have to pay whatever Monaco paid in total + a little extra.
In todays gossip, Arsenal have been linked Jung, Janmaat, and Aurier as replacements for Sagna. I know a little about Aurier, but absolutely nothing about Jung or Janmaat. Can someone enlighten me, please.
wenger's thing seems to be defense on the right and attack on the left. technically, i think sagna is terrific and underrated. i don't know that he has a very offensive mentality but i've seen some very nice crosses out of him, especially this season. he seems to be getting more crosses through than past seasons. if we had anyone attacking the back post, i think we see so much more effectiveness out of our offense.
Give me Griezmann, Ginter, Draxler and MF who permanently ensures that Arteta and Flam never start next year . Do that we compete on all fronts with enough depth to overcome injuries
That would be ok by me. We just need to spend some money on a few great players to make sure we don't have to worry about the stupid 4th place trophy
It's a two year process though, so that's a pipe dream. Bendtner's leaving, so we have 12 foreign players out of 17 in the squad. We can't sign more than 5 unless someone else leaves, and we aren't likely to sign more than three because this is Arsenal after all. Also, Arteta, Flamini, and Diaby are likely to leave after next season because all are free agents. So, essentially, the priority should be: 1. Get a striker, because we really need one. 2. Rebuild the back of the midfield to ease the transition for the above three players leaving. 3. Add depth to defense. I'd be thrilled with Drmic, Draxler, and Bender. Over the moon even, since we're talking about a 60m quid outlay here. Arsenal include wages for all their transfers, and assuming that the wages are the same as the transfer fee over a four year deal, and that's 120m quid this summer. So that should be seen as: file under fantasy and assume we're only getting two players. I'd be "happy" with Draxler and Drmic by itself, though we really need someone at the back end of the midfield as a long term replacement for Arteta/Flamini. This is especially true since Wenger needs to think about starting to rebuild the defense next season: identifying successors to Koscielny/Mertesacker/Sagna as they get older and become more susceptible to injuries.
Thought about this, but decided that given resources, it's an either-or for Bender or Aurier. Can't really afford both.
