I recall a former USMNT player (Wynalda?) mentioned a dozen or so years ago that the Mexican team at that time excelled in this move.
My father in law played professionally back in the late 70s and early 80s in Paraguay and I remember him telling me its was very common on set pieces for guys to do this sort of thing (ass grabbing too) to throw the other guy off an make him uncomfortable.
No wonder all my football playing friends thought soccer players were gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Ditto. It was rare but it mostly happened on set pieces when it did happen. And this was only about 6 years ago so I imagine it still goes on.
Happened to me once. In the match, I was having a good amount of success in denying the opponent's CAM from getting on the ball or doing much with it when he had it so he was getting frustrated. On one of their throw-ins, he received the ball facing the thrower and I was on his back to keep him from turning just as I had been doing most of the night. On this play, he backed up tight against me, reached behind and squeezed my nuts and then turned and took off with the ball as I stood there a bit stunned for a second or two by what just happened. I've had elbows thrown at me, suffered late and hard fouls, etc. by frustrated opponents but this was a first for me. I had to laugh and give the guy credit for it was a simple, unseen and damn effective cheating move.
Why wasn't the player Yellow carded or thrown out of the game for that? You can't be doing that. Some guys might have tore his head off or went on a rant about him post match.
If you throw a punch in retaliation you are likely to be the one heading to the showers early, not him. And then he wins.
There hasn't been much noise about transfers anywhere, besides the standard rumor mill players like Kroos, Reus, Gotze, etc. That will pick up after the World Cup.
funny you say that cause i played soccer and high school football and you should see the places that get purposely grabbed at the bottom of pile. People do it just to piss people off and see if they'll lose it, throw a punch, and get thrown out.
I've read about NFL players getting fingers up the ass during pileups. I've seen pictures of similar stuff in Rugby, basketball, etc. It happens in just about every sport where there is any contact I'm sure.
Marco Van Basten is set to take over as manager for AZ next season. He knows a thing or two about being a prolific striker and hopefully some of that should rub off on Aron!
If he gets offers for the love of everything sacred don't go to Stoke or lower EPL side. Not sure I can stomach Agudelo at Stoke once he gets a work permit.
Meh, Stoke is Barcelona compared to Sunderland. Agudelo is a pretty direct player, he would do ok there.
