I just listened to the new ETR podcast and their talk of "foot golf." Sounds like it could be a fun game. Then I saw a Twitter post that there is an 18-hole foot golf course opening at the Heart of America golf course in KC. Their website doesn't seem to mention it though. Anybody know anything about this?

if this is anything like solf, then i declare copyright infringement or something.:D my friend and i created and popularized it down at school in springfield in the late 90s-early00s. the object is to kick the ball as few times as possible to get from midfield of wherever you were playing to the front door of your dorm. the destination changed, obviously, when we moved to different locations, and the course was always changing depending on your starting point. talk about causing a ruckus through the middle of campus. there were all sorts of rules. some were penalty strokes, like if you hit a parked car. that was a no-no, so it was best avoided. a moving car, however, earned you a bonus stroke. we figured that you earned it out of sheer audacity (or stupidity as it were). aaahhhhh yes, i miss college.:whistling:

I did the same thing; listened to the podcast, found the heart of america listing ("coming spring 2014" according to the American Footgolf League website) and then was disappointed there was nothing about it on the heart of america site.

I plan to give them a call as soon as the weather warms up enough to consider playing. But if you find out anything in the meantime, please report back.

just played the course this morning. It's a good course. They're still working out some of the kinks with distances, tee boxes, how it will work with golfers, and other things (they have pool skimmers on order to get balls out of the water when they go in there). I had a blast.

Yeah, that would be my biggest question - how do you share the course with the golfers? Do they get 'right of way' or something.

How many balls did you lose ... ? :D

I've gotta get out there and try this.

Right now it's kind of an alternating thing. Neither one has the "right of way" over the other.

I put my ball in the water once, but they let us use a rake for one of the sand traps to fish our stuff out.

Were you getting any weird looks/questions?

    Rules on foot wear?

No really weird looks until the very end, but we had the people running the place with us for most of it, talking about it with us, and 41 news was there too. We got some weird looks from the couple that were on the first green as we were walking to the 18th hole though.

No cleats. Turf and indoor shoes are fine.

Since it's operating concurrent with regular golf, I guess there are just giant holes on the greens or how do they go about it? I couldn't imagine how happy a normal golfer would be to lose a ball there.

the holes aren't on the green, they're on the fairways and tee boxes.

$10 is a lot cheaper than I thought. I'm psyched to give this a try.
