Alright! DIF got another win today over Mjällby. Too bad I'm stuck at work and couldn't watch it.

I understand that it is extremely early in the Allsvenskan campaign for 2014, but I think the best players in the league so far (argumentatively) are Lasse Vibe (IFK), Amadou Jawo (DIF), and Kennedy Igboananike (AIK). It would not surprise me that these three players and their clubs will end up in the top three spots of Allsvenskan in October. Vibe is a veteran and is exciting to watch because you don't know what he will do--he is more of a playmaker AND a scorer, which is a dangerous combination for opposing sides. Jawo is up and coming and I can see him as the top scorer in the league. I remember watching Igboananike play for DIF before and play for Vasalunds before that. I remember being at a match in Solna and my friend mentioned how this Kennedy gubben would be moving to one of the bigger clubs, and I think he was hoping it would be his club (Hammarby). After watching him play, I thought he would be off to a French or possibly an English club. I'm glad he stayed in Sweden (and Stockholm area) since he get more playing time to showcase his talents. All great players.

3 fine forwards. Jawo and Igbo are clearcut attackers. Vibe is being used as one too but we´ll see if he delivers the needed amount of goals for IFK. A line-up with those 3 guys would certainly be a decent side in the scoring department. Malmö´s trio aint bad either. Of which one scored today, namely Rosenberg. Molins and Eriksson contributes to MFF´s scoring prowess as well....

    Malmö FF–Gefle 1–0 (0–0)
    1–0 Markus Rosenberg (63).

Gefle (4–4–2): Emil Hedvall – Jonas Olsson, David Fällman, Anders Wikström (Skuli Jon Fridgeirsson 71), Jens Portin – Simon Lundevall, Robin Nilsson, Marcus Hansson, Jonas Lantto – Johan Oremo, Dardan Mustafa (Emil Bellander 85).

    Åtvidaberg–Falkenberg 2–0 (0–0)

Interesting result from Kalmar. The Reds holds firm versus supposed top side IFE. Might have been awarded a peanalty too. But offside called in the end.
IFK the better side in the 1st half. BP coming out like a new side in the 2nd half. Well done to them. 1-1 the end result. IFK will have to get back to the tactical board....
What I find interesting is that IFK stubbornly continues with two physical central midfielders with a limited technical ability and lack of creativeness. This time Gustav Svensson is tested in Johansson´s position with Haglund. Compare this withfor example Malmö who have one creative player and one physical ball Winner. Thern and Halsti respectively. Different approach. Coach Stahre can´t afford many more Point losses or he could be seriously questioned not only from supporters but also the board....

Indeed! A club as big as Hammarby belongs in the Allsvenskan, and a club as small as BP belongs in the Superettan.

As usual, thankyou for all your posts and breakdowns of each match--very entertaining and informative.

Vibe scored early and often for IFK, racking up a hat trick against a normally tough Atvidaberg side. I think Vibe is on a roll now and this may be the season where he leads IFK to the title. Very impressive play. It is also nice to see Kalmar handling the smaller sides and keeping pace with the table leaders.

AIK's win vs DIF is also impressive and a very exciting finish! I think if the match were 100 minutes long then DIF may have pulled it out (AIK must be happy that there was only 90 minutes)! As with last season, the one thing that stands out to me about AIK is their depth--they have players on the bench who could easily be starters and it must make other managers nuts trying to substitute against AIK. AIK can easily change the tempo of a match just by adding (or not adding) certain players, which the other side would have to counter. So you really don't know where their main threat would come from, consequently goals would come from other players than their main threats. Its hard to defend (and go on the offense) against that type of play. DIF figured it out later in the match, but the damage was done early enough to hold them off. Very exciting match!

Hammarby looks like an Allsvenskan side, no doubt. And their destruction of Degerfors proves it. For some reason, these two clubs have a bitter rivalry--almost like a derby. I was at a Hammarby-Degerfors match at Soderstadion a couple of years ago and the atmosphere was intense. The atmosphere was intense that evening and the match was stopped a couple of times after the 75th minute due to objects and flares being tossed on the pitch. Hopefully we will see a Hammarby-DIF match at Tele2 in 2015!

Totally agree guys. Keeping my fingers crossed we´ll see another Stockholm Derby contestant next season in Allsvenskan.

Interesting thaughts ILKicks! And congrats UFF DA to a decent start for Djurgården in the season, albeit a slight setback versus AIK.

    http://nr.soccerway.com/national/sweden/allsvenskan/2014/regular-season/r23311/

    Sunday games:

    15:00 CET

    Kalmar vs. Göteborg
Interesting game. KFF have just like ILkicks mention started very impressively. Söderkvist leads the scoring league. He and Elm forms a strong offensive force. Kalmar are unbeaten i 4 games now. But this is perhaps the first tough test they´re facing? A full house is expected at Guldfågeln. This is a type of club that certainly can punnish the best sides if they´re not in full form.
IFK bounced back winning emphatically at home in the last round as ILKicks also mentions. This after 2 less impressive performances in the previous rounds vs Malmö and BP respectively. Here IFK will know the potency of Kalmar and the fact that they´re meeting number 2 in the League in good shape. May Mahlangu is coming closer and closer matchfitness and played a few minutes vs ÅFF. He can bring Another dimension to the central midfield for IFK. Creativeness tha´s been lacking foremost. The flank play is good though and Vibe once again played at his old position to the right in midfield. Svensson for the 2nd time running played central in midfield. And Waehler was back in the line up again.
    Halmstad vs. Helsingborg
HBK have started rather weak to be honest. Only Point taken was against Norrköping at home. But let´s not forget which teams they´ve met yet. Rather strong sides indeed. And now they face a Helsingborg side albeit at home.
HIF a side that have been a negative surprise for sure. Maybe the frantic start with that abandoned DIF game set them back slightly? But yet again here we have a club that´s met decent sides. So this should perhaps be a doable opponent in the current League bottom dweller HBK?

    17:30 CET

    AIK vs. Norrköping
AIK won the Derby. They found their stride and played really well, but at the same time DIF looked a bit off at the same time. But obviously a moral booster for the Northern Stockholmers coming into this tricky fixture. Probably around 20000 AIK will support them and the usual impressive ambiance backing the Mighty Blacks. AIK will surely be contenders of the title looking at that very strong well balanced roster......
But Norrköping is a medium sized club that potentially can make Life difficult for the best sides in the League. Here Peking can play without apparent pressure on their shoulders. And at the same time have a clear tactical plan of counterattacking against a side ever filled with famous AIK hubris.....
    MAIF vs. Häcken
Mjällby have made better starts last couple of seasons. They will want to snatch more Points soon or this could be a steep up hill battle for this tiny countryside club.
Häcken faught back in the last round winning in fine style. With an attacker like El Kabir they could potentially punnish any side. A fantastic defensive signing of centre back Atta improves BKH´s defense vastly. This could be a middle year though for Häcken. The club is forced to play their games away from home since they are currently constructing a new arena.....

    Monday

    15:00 CET

    Falkenberg vs. Elfsborg
West Coast outfit Falkenberg looking enthusiastic early on. They´ve been praised for at least rtying to attack every now and then. It´s a tough task for Henrik Larsson´s men. The budget haven´t allowed them to strengthen up as they´d wanted . But a decent start. Won against BP in the 2nd round. This fixture looks difficult on paper.
The Guliganer will expect to win this type of game against a newcomer. But Always Watch out for these smaller sides at home against bigger side. FFF will be enjoying this. Elfsborg is from the South Western inlands so these fellows will almost feel a slight rivalry.....
    Åtvidaberg vs. Gefle
ÅFF with a great start! Sure a loss in the last round but that wasn´t totally unexpected off course. This should be a doable opposition at home.
Gefle well adapted to the artificial turf though. And they also won in the last round. Another club which will get a small but new arena to the coming season.

    17:30 CET

    Malmö vs. Djurgården
The game of the round is no doubt this one surely. A big City meeting! MFF have impressed. They are leaders of the Allsvenskan after 4 rounds. 12 Points and a massive 9-1 in goaldifference. The attacking force is fantastic. Rosenberg, Eriksson, Molins! And creativeness behind them. Even their wing backs are creative and technically skilled! And the balance in central midfield looks healthy as well. Thern is a major talent.
But Watch out! Djurgården are paying a visit to the 3rd City. Djurgården have experiance a few years now with turbulance. They haven´t reached their potential as a club. But now with good coaching choices and better scouted players they ´have created a better roster. And also their new fortress is a major boost obviously. The kind of supportership they get is Amazing! Where will all of this end then? Well thís is a club that is one of the 5 big clubs through history. The club is Walking the right path and I expect them to be a top 5 club consistantly in the League from now on. But here is a mouthwatering challenge. They won g´here last season actually. Can they do it again?. Not many teams will though.....
    BP vs. Örebro
BP is not one of my favourite clubs in terms of supportership. But with a wonderful talent Academy they have managed to stay in the League a few seasons now. But in the long run I don´t expect them to be able to stay as the Money factor will play an ever increasing role in the Allsvenskan.
ÖSK on the other hand is a club from an expansive city with a whole region following them. This club should in the future potentially be able to be just as good as similar medium sized football Towns such as Borås (Elfsborg) or Helsingborg. I like the fact that this club have started well and will definately not be relegated at least. A solid coaching staf headed by Ljung and Axén. And an interesting roster filled with both talent and experiance. Tricky as Always at Grimsta. But Örebro will feel that they can beat BP if in full form......

Very poor performance by AIK at home. 1 Point produced at Friends Arena in 3 attempts is unacceptable. 0-2 early on as Norrköping punnishes a very lackluster AIK team. If this continues they´ll obviously have trouble following Malmö in the tracks. Norrköping suddenly rockets up to a respectable position in the League.
Carlos Strandberg replaced the injured El Kabir up front for the Häcken side. He was the instigator in 3 of the goals. MAIF got a fair beating and maybe they will struggle this season.
Kalmar made it hard for the 2nd City team to find an opening. Instead they scored from a wonderful freekick by Young talent Hallberg. Not a very inspired offensive display by either side. A tough Schedule with 3 games during this week might be one major reason to these sides not reaching their full potential. Smedberg-Dalence was substituted replacing an injured Vibe. He scores the equalizer from a post shot return. 1-1 in a tight tactical game.
Halmstad delivers the biggest surprise thus far during this round as they sweep aside Helsingborg 2-1 at home. HIF witnessing an early poor streak in Allsvenskan.....
