I think he retired and is joining the European Poker Tour.

Bring back freddy for the CAM position --- just behind Agudelo or Altidore. Without someone with a creative spark we'll never get anything against Portugal or Germany. No one in our pool can weight a pass like the Fred.

I think Adu can bring a spark to the team, but no way in hell do I believe he should be in Brazil if he's not even on a club team playing.

Ok, I admit my thoughts on Adu were a little impulsive and I was not fully aware that he was not currently employed. However, a skilled distributor in his mold is what we need if we want to make it to the next level, albeit with a more consistent game. Agudelo is a little more realistic I feel right now, and I think should take a roster spot over a guy like Wondo who is playing in a much inferior league.

Uh....you do realize that until half a year ago Agudelo was playing in that "inferior league"? That when he was in that "inferior league" Wondo was cleaning his clock?

How can we compare properly when they were on different teams with a different supporting cast?

Which of the number of teams Agudelo was on do you want to pick? Go ahead, pick his very best one. Then,....so what?

Freddy is the one that got away... so supremely talented, so sad. Come back Freddy! Russia is waiting for you.

I really don't get the fascination with Freddy. He was a can't miss prospect who missed. Not the first time, not the last time. Happened in every sport at every level. The HS kid who was a 5 star recruit who was off the team by his sophmore year in college. The 1st round draft pick who was out of the league by his 3rd year. The Rookie of the year who never shined again.

This isn't unheard of or even particularly rare.

In my mind Freddy's case isn't similar to those because Freddy was a professional athlete, playing against grown men at 14 years old which is unheard of and he was actually pretty good when it all started. He wasn't playing well against other 14 year olds, he was playing well against guys who are 25 years old. The fascinating part is that even when he was with the Union in 2012 and showed he was at least a capable MLS player, he hasn't attracted any interest from any other clubs. I think we just want to know why that is exactly.

Well, Adu has a net worth of $12 million, so I guess he gets the last laugh regardless of whether he ever plays professional soccer again, and regardless of what we say about him on an internet message board.

Of course he would be at a much more exclusive class if he could continue to play Division 1 football. There are an estimated 95,000 people worldwide who have estimated fortunes of over 30 million and a lot more at Adu's estimated wealth level. I doubt the number of such footballers comes close.

He's still a failure, and he will never be free from that.

    Wow really?
With that kind of money he could buy a football club and sign himself!

Retiring at 24 sounds sweet too. He's going to have 60 years to play video games and watch movies. Awesome.

I think he prefers strip clubs to video games. The money will run out before he's 40
