He dove the right way, but it was a perfect penalty. It hit the left post and then caromed in.

Fwiw, Sep 3, 1992 was Friedel's national team debut, but he was still an amateur at the time, playing for UCLA.

Pretty sure he has been seen drinking liquid radioactive waste and had almost defeated Sasquatch in a wrestling match in the Ohio Northwoods before game wardens arrived on the scene.

Does UCLA honor their worthwhile alum?

UCLA's end-of-season team awards are named after Friedel, Caligiuri, Cobi Jones, Joe-Max, Sigi Schmid, and ... current coach Jorge Salcedo named one after himself.

This leaves Bocanegra as probably the biggest snub.

The US didn't have a real professional league at the time and Americans weren't highly thought of in Europe, so there were few professional options for the national team players. The USSF created a 2 year long national team camp so the players would have a place to train and get games. I don't know if they got a transfer fee for Friedal, but they held his player card so they certainly could have. The start of this article has a little more information about the training camp.

So his contract ends this summer. Is he going to retire and focus on coaching?

Thats the radio team, I think.

Henry and Ferdinand in the studio. Klinsmann was a good pundit at the last World Cup, but I believe hes busy. Probably be free after the group stage, eh lads?

Shame theres no Seedorf this year, and we have to listen to that prat Rio

Is he a free agent? Did he get re-signed?

I'm curious about that as well. I've a feeling they will decide once the Cup is over and whether Lloris resigns. If not I'd wager he gets a final 1 year deal. If he was going to retire, he'd have announced it by now.

    Brad update!

He's been offered a contract extension by Spurs.

Secondly, here he is reading tweets about himself, pretty humorous.
