Well, props to WNY, but poor Chicago. Though I doubt CHI will feel like complaining if they can just lay the smackdown on the Flash this weekend... *crosses fingers*
Thanks everyone for the correction. Show how much I was paying attention last season. Now, do any team have a jersey sleave sponsor?
Interesting, I did not know that about Ohai. My news byte: Angela Salem on “Soccer is a Kick in the Grass” radio program Monday 4/21/14. WYSL 1040 AM http://www.soccerisakickinthegrass.com/ I noted a couple of responses she gave: · Haley Palmer’s injury is ‘not too serious,’ she is “day-to-day,” and, with the bye week, she is expected to play next game (May 3). · Sonia Bermudez has been in for a ‘couple’ of practices and, when asked if Angela had concerns about her starting spot, she said, “right now Sonia is more of an outside player, “ and so she didn’t feel her spot was directly at risk. · Angela has actually played with Carli Lloyd for 4 seasons – 2 in Sweden.
Yeah, and she acts like it's no big deal to be blind in one eye. She just goes out and creates the same amount of havoc if she had two eyes. To her, going out there and playing half-blind is remarkably simple. To everyone else who are watching her from afar, it's simply remarkable.
Another good blog entry from Sauerbrunn http://www.fckansascity.com/2014/04/23/book-becky-sauerbrunn-vol-ii/
http://www.bizjournals.com/portland...a=sm_ptl_ucp28&b=1398378868^14371101&page=all Paulson talking profit, both for the Thorns and for the league in general.
Interesting article. Paulson's been saying "more MLS clubs are looking to join in" for a while. I wonder what teams really are interested and don't have a NWSL team in their territory already. So I made up a quick list of MLS teams for the 2015 season: MLS TeamLocal NWSL TeamNotes Chicago FireChicago Red Stars Chivas USANoneNew MLS Ownership TBA Colorado RapidsNone Columbus CrewNone D.C. UnitedWashington Spirit FC DallasNone Houston DynamoHouston DashSame Ownership Los Angeles GalaxyNone Montreal ImpactNone New England RevolutionBoston Breakers New York City FCNoneNew MLS Team for 2015 New York Red BullsSky Blue FC Orlando CityNoneNew MLS Team for 2015 Philadelphia UnionNone Portland TimbersPortland ThornsSame Ownership Real Salt LakeNone San Jose EarthquakesNone Seattle Sounders FCSeattle Reign Sporting Kansas CityFC Kansas City Toronto FCNone Vancouver Whitecaps FCNone I think due to the ownership situation and being new MLS teams: Chivas USA, NY City, and Orlando City aren't likely candidates. Which leaves 10 possibilities (if a Canadian team is possible, otherwise it's 7).
"...became the standard bearer for a new and ambitious women’s soccer league and turned a modest profit..." Only a "modest profit"? "As the only NWSL team to turn a profit last year, the Thorns have agreed to share a portion of its revenue with the league’s other eight clubs. Paulson declined to provide details on the Thorns profit or the amount of revenue it’s sharing with the league’s other eight clubs." Is this the first time we have heard of a revenue sharing?
Ive heard rumors but never from a reliable source...revenue sharing is definitely the way to go...it fits nicely with the allocated player system. Portland is smart to look at this long term. Sacrifices now growing the league could pay off down the road.
