So you are basically saying that Philip Lahm is such a dude that his thread itself does not need any long ass witty title ala C.Ronaldo? That his name itself is a Solomon saying, a Buddhist mantra and the silence of the universe uttered, all-in-one?
Lahm is perhaps the most inteligent football player in the game. I know that Ronaldo and Messi can score screamers of their own but what Lahm does week after week is ridiculous. I can not even remember when Lahm last time had a bad game, perhaps Chelsea in the Super Cup? He is by far the best and most complete back in the history. Lahm deserves a statue of himself and so does he also deserve his own thread on Bigsoccer.
Anybody saw when Rooney had that clear chance to shoot in the first half but he was thinking to pass to another player who would have 1vs1 with Neuer, Lahm didn't try to block and confused Rooney with standing somewhere in betweeen.
I would have voted him Ballon d'Or winner in 2013. IMO it wasn't even close. He should be playing DM all the time though.

Lahm is the most intelligent and adaptable player for Bayern and Germany, and according to Pep, ever since he coached. However, I am not sure that puts him at the top of the Ballon list. I personally think he is one of the best, but there are many having standout seasons to consider. Lahm has not quite been the RB of past, but that is understandable given his #6 role and having to flip flop between the two on a moments notice. I however do think he has done a killer job of it given the freshness of the concept. If defenders will ever be voted for in the Ballon d'Or.... he is a slam dunk!
Unlike Messi(ah) , lahm will have to win a WM before he will be a contender for the B'dO. Low information voters....
