I thought it was funny that all the trialists* had Indiana county names.

Indy Eleven: Kristian Nicht - E. Cass*, R. Tipton*, F. Jefferson*, Kyle Hyland, Brad Ring, B. Elkhart*, B.Jennings*, Mike Ambersley, Pedro Mendes, Walter Ramirez.
Subs Used: Nathan Sprenkel – Baba Omosegbon, S. Allen*, Don Smart, F. Jefferson*, T. Lake*, Chris Wey, S. Jay*, M. Shelby*, S. Monroe*, Y. Grant*, F. Tippecanoe*.

Pretty sweet experience to start for Indy 11 vs Vancouver today in our first preseason game with some fellow Hoosier alums

do we have any idea who the others were?

    also, highlights from the match:

Yes, that's 14. The GK spots should be filled now, with 3 signed.

so you have to think they're still looking for 7-10 players to fill out the roster. do we know if they're taking more trialists down to FL?

Here is the breakdown of the team so far...

    GK
    Kristian Nicht
    Nathan Sprenkel
    Jon Dawson

    Defense
    Christopher Wey
    Erick Norales
    Kyle Hyland
    Baba Omosegbon
    Chris Estridge
    Andrew Stone

    Midfield
    Don Smart
    Brad Ring
    Walter Ramirez

    Forward
    Pedro Mendes
    Michael Ambersley

I see the need for 9 more(5 midfielders, 2 forwards, and two defenders) that would bring the total to a 23 man roster.

I think I read somewhere that Indy eleven are aiming for only 20 player for the season and plan to paymore $ to sign better quality. But I may be wrong.

i thought peter said 20-23 players a while back. but the reality is there are only 9 games in the spring season. they could probably get by with 18 for the first half and reinforce over the summer break after they've had a few games to see what the real needs are.

i'll volunteer to be a training dummy if they need bodies at practice.

So they had 11 players signed, planned to sign 5 of the AZ and FL trialists (signed 3), and they're holding 4 spots for MLS rejects. makes sense to me. I'd love to know who the trialists are who made the trip to FL.

from the talk on the RSL board, it looks like they're not signing dylan mares. maybe peter will give him a call?

edit: also, i wonder what's going on with nikita kotlov out in portland and corrado in san jose. those are two indy-area guys who clearly have talent and attacking potential.

are there other discussion boards where this team is being talked about? maybe somewhere with a better idea about who the trialists are or who they're trying to get to fill out the roster?

If you find that place, please let me know. I'm trying to learn as much about the team as possible before first kick.

byb has a forum on their site, but it's dead. i assume the team would announce players once deals are done, but it's frustrating not knowing who they're even looking at. i guess i'm just accustomed to following milan where we hear about it as soon as a new player gets mentioned in a meeting.

I've noticed that as well (BYB board being slow). I wish Indy Eleven had forums on their site. They are doing so much social media, it might be the logical next step.

i'd rather they didn't. i don't see anything good coming out of that once the criticisms start.

I suspect (and hope) that things will pick up here as the season begins. I'm definitely looking in on this site regularly--but because I'm not in the know I don't have anything to contribute about possible roster moves.

I hope they pick up here as well. I remember about 2 years ago there were quite a few contributors to the US Men's and YA boards from Indianapolis. I was always shocked to see that.

The BYB forums were more for getting opinions and organizing affiliates. All the people that are interested in such a thing ended up here. I think the board has more important things than keeping up on that idea. I may ask for it to be taken down since the idea didn't really fly.
