They are in a bind when it comes to Gundogan. He has a year left on his contract after this summer so if he comes back and has a good season then you're losing him for nothing, another Lewandowski situation. SO with this one-year extension they at least allow themselves to sell his if he has a good season and make some money as Gundogan has said the wants to play outside of the BL next so he's leaving no matter what. Now if he doesn't have a good season or he's not fully back than that at least gives Dortmund a chance to offer him an extension on better terms for them as he won't have many suitors offering him any better.
@BVB: Ilkay Gündogan has extended his contract at eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund until 30 June, 2016.
Rumors on twitter are saying that the extension also includes a 2-year option that can take it up to 2018.
Keyword rumors. Their twitter account says 2016 and nothing more. Hopefully the rumors are true for BVB. That way they either get to keep a really brilliant player or end up making more cash in a transfer because of his contract length
Funny excerpts from Pirlo's biography On Guardiola tapping him up: On Gattuso: On pressure: On Italy: On his training: On Hodgson: On Liverpool / Champions league final: On pre-match warm ups:
Pirlo to me, goes down as the greatest Italian player. Ever. I really, really, really hope he becomes a coach some day.
My favorite part was about Gattuso stabbing people with forks and telling the media they missed the match due to muscle fatigue
