Trade or to be sold at face value.

Only problem is these tickets have to be picked up in Brazil and only date for trade/exchange/collection will be on the 12th either in Rio or SP.

    In relation to this

How does these automatic ticket machines work???

Do you need to just provide ATM/Credit Card or do you also require the passport for which the tickets were entered under.

Reason I ask is I have tickets under my fathers name I was planning on collecting.
Getting access to his Card won't be an issue as he will let me take it with him

I am reluctant to take his passport just for the general issue of looking after it and also if going through Customs in some foreign country (I have 3 to go through before I reach Brazil) I would rather not have to try and explain why I am carrying 2 passports in case I was unlucky enough to get a thorough search of my possessions and it was discovered.

Might be a bit hard to explain what I was up to carrying around a passport not in my name!!!

When trading tickets, will it matter when I try to enter the stadium and the name on the ticket does not match me? Will they be checking IDs to the tickets?

Also, does this have any effect on whether I can successfully apply for a Visa or not?

Free Visa? It isn't free, is it? I thought it costs almost $100 to obtain a Visa to visit Brazil

The visa fee is waived if you can present the Brazilian consulate with proof of purchase of a FIFA World Cup ticket -- which will have to be in your name.

I think you just swipe the card at the ATM Ticketing machine - other forum users have said this was the case in South Africa. However, my dad said that it's not uncommon for the machines to mess up during the ticket collection process - he said this happened to him and others when retrieving semi final tickets for last year's Confederations Cup.

I'm sure we'll get more information soon as it's already possible to collect the tickets from the kiosks in Brazil (or it will be by early May).

My aunt just retired from a Brazilian consulate (and she still has tons of friends who work there) and she sent me an email a few weeks ago reminding me to tell all my friends to get their visas. She was surprised when I said there was a visa waiver in effect if tourists have tickets. Didnt even know about it hah.
