Also remember that the Galaxy have been embarrassingly bad on a couple occasions. It's rare but I remember a couple of almost unwatchable games in the past couple seasons. Seemed to happen when some special visitor is in the stands evaluating the league, the team, or a player.
Thanks for the info. I had looked at the u16 roster last weekend and he wasn't listed. I thought maybe they had moved him down again but he doesn't show up on any of the rosters. Hopefully it's just an injury and he hasn't moved on already.
The game against Columbus last year springs immediately to mind, as does the July 4th game the prior year against the Union.
So the next G2 home game is this Saturday at 7:30. Chivas RIP is playing SEA at the Stubhub at the same time. Wouldn't it be great to have more in attendance than they have? It will be interesting to see if Dempsey has a draw in SoCal. Is parking going to be free for the G2 game? Seems it may be kind of confusing with two matches at the same time.
I was told that we would need to pay for parking because of the Chivas game. Another reason to hate them, I guess.
Got an e-mail from LAG confirming that we must pay $15 to park for this game. They recommend entering the main gate, Gate A off Avalon, and ask to be directed to the correct lot - presumably 17 but that's a guess. I sure hope none of that money goes to Chivas. Text of the message follows: LA Galaxy II Fans, Galaxy II vs. OC Blues Saturday, April 19 – 7:30pm StubHub Center Track & Field StadiumSaturday night will be another big game for LA Galaxy II as they take on USL rival OC Blues. The same evening Chivas USA will be hosting a game vs. Seattle Sounders FC in the main StubHub Center stadium. As such, standard event parking policies will be in effect. It will be $15 to park. We recommend entering the main Gate A so you can be directed towards the parking lots nearest the Track and Field Stadium. Contact 1-877-3GALAXY for more information
Everyone looks poor except for Mendiola (though he passed the ball instead of shooting into a wide open net). Rogers has only had few touches but should have been played through a few times. I'm particularly unimpressed by Auras. He's been really bad. Diallo fires over the bar from 3 yards out after some pinball in from a corner. Stream is much improved though.
LAII look a different team when McBean is playing. He might not take the next step to MLS, but he's a step above USL Pro
Only caught the match from just before the first goal, but the McBean/Hoffman partnership looks good.
He's my man of the match. Two assists and very productive in his minutes. Needs to get in goal scoring form though. As for Hoffman. I don't think he's a very good player to be honest. Seems to keep getting goals though so I suppose that's always good, but his vision and decision making on the field is poor. Also skies a lot of chances.
Thought that particularly in the first half, Robbie Rogers was the most polished player on the field for either side. He gave us 75 minutes. I think he may be ready, or in one more G2 game ready, to provide depth on the big club. Do not see him beating out any of our starters, but depth is good. The G2 defense without Opare or Meyer looked like it was scrambling all night. Other than Sorto, the rest of the back line didn't look to me to be likely prospects. Maybe Steres will develop, but I would be surprised to see the others ever contribute much. Lorendi is going to give Brian Rowe a run for his money in the #3 depth chart for GK. Despite the fact that each had a goal, I was unimpressed by the Hoffman/Rugg duo up front. I know that strikers are usually given a pass if they finish, but neither guy gave much of anything except that they were able to finish their chances. First half of the game G2 looked as bad or worse than last week. It was dump and chase, dump and chase, with no build up at all. But, I guess you have to give a tip of the hat to Onolfo because the second half the play was completely different with the midfield actually attempting possession and passing around. Blue seemed to wear down under the pressure. Mendiola took a vicious knock and the straight red was warranted. Does anyone know how bad he was hurt. He did walk (gingerly) by the fence afterward for the autograph signings. Up close he looks even smaller than he does on the field. They list him as 5'8" 150 lbs. That might be a tad generous. McBean sporting a blond porno mustache that doesn't do much for him. Kids.
I agree with pretty much everything here, especially the Rugg and Hoffman stuff. Neither one is going to be good enough for the first team. I'm not sure either one would be good enough to be elite at the 2nd division level. Goals are goals, but I would like to see more minutes given to Jamieson. I also would like to add on to the Rogers comment. I think it was a decent shift for him. Nothing spectacular, but you could tell by the his movement and play that he's far above this level. He did, however, look rusty. A few more games with G2 to kick off the rust and I think he'll have something to contribute to the first team. I'd probably disagree with thinking Laurendi is going to beat out Rowe as our 3rd keeper. Skills of each aside, I doubt we'd waste a discovery slot on a third keeper. I'd also disagree on McBean's mustache. It's glorious! He's going for the Larry Bird. He definitely won't be embarrassed about that in a few years.
Our family enjoyed the game. The lads really dominated the Blue Stars. On Rogers, he obviously tired towards the end of his shift but its nice to see the speed. He is getting behind defenders again and thats a good sign.
First USL Pro team to 10 points. Way to bounce back after that sh!thouse performance against Sac Rep.
In case this was in doubt, it is now official that both the LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II are entered into the US Open Cup. That should make for some interesting roster decisions. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2014/04/24/09/27/140424-usoc-2014-tournament-announcement
nice. 5/14 (wednesday) Cal FC (USASA) at LA Galaxy II (USL), 730p @ SHC Track & Field Stadium edit: checked the schedule. not exactly the most friendly. g2 play Sat 5/10 away @ Dayton Wed 5/14 open cup @ home Sat 5/17 away @ Sac
Game tonight at Arizona than against OC (again) on Sunday. I'd like us to try something like this: ------------------McBean----------------------- Rogers--------Mendiola-----------Courtois -----------Garcia--------Walker-------------- Whoever--Ventner---Steres------Sorto Let's have a decent front four with some ball skills so they can work with each other. The two foreign players look pretty bad so there's no reason to spend time developing them. Bring on Jamieson for Courtois at the half. Rugg and Hoffman just aren't going to be good enough to be anything more than emergency reserves for G1. They might be more effective at this level because they play more direct, but that's not the point of the team.
I like your line-up except for Courtois. I was very impressed the Jamison's willingness to attack defenders and even attempt fancy moves like a Zidane roulette to break free. The more time he has where he can do that before some coach puts the damper on his creativeness the better.
